CT2015 Information:

There are 16 teams participating in the tournament. They have been divided into four groups, primarily based on the ranking in the last league. The four groups are:

Group A: Falcons/Bouncers/Weekenders/Beamers
Group B: Wolverines/Warriors/Sultans/Aztecs
Group C: Tigers/Phoenix/Twisters/SD Incredibles
Group D: SD Kings/Bolts/Soormay/Vintage

Each innings consists of 20 overs. Teams have 100 minutes to bowl 20 overs including a 5 minute break at the end of 10 overs. There is a 10 minute in-between innings. Umpires will deduct overs in case teams are unable to bowl their overs in the allotted time (For how to deduct: http://www.sandiegocricket.com/news/26).

Each team will play against all other teams in their group. Each win is worth 10 points. In the event of a tie or abandoned match due to rain, 5 points will be awarded to each team. The top 2 teams in each group, as decided by points and net-run-rate if necessary, will proceed to the knock-out phase of the tournament consisting of the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final. The quarter/semis finals will be structured as follows:

Qrts: (1) A1 vs. D2/ (2) A2 vs. D1/ (3) B1 vs. C2/ (4) B2 vs. C1

Semis: (1) vs (3), (2) vs (4)

Roster Information:

Since Champions Trophy is a small tournament, we are slightly tweaking the roster requirements compared to our regular league. Please pay attention to following rules for CT2015:

1. Roster will be frozen after first weekend games. Captains/Team Administrators must ensure that they have their roster finalized by 11/2/2015.
2. NO player transfers will be allowed between teams during the tournament. Teams will be penalized match points if they play with a player that has already played with another team in CT2015.
3. We will waive the requirement of player to play at least one game in pre-knockout stage to be eligible for playing in knockout game. A player can directly play knockout game, if he is part of team roster that was frozen after first game.

At the end of the tournament, the following awards will be presented:
1. Champions Trophy + $150 gift card for winning team
2. Runners-up Trophy + $100 gift card for runnerup team

Extra batting powerplay:

In this Champions Trophy, we will continue 2 over extra batting powerplay, in addition to mandatory regular 6 overs powerplay at start of each innings. Following rules will be enforced for batting powerplay:

1)      Batting powerplay can be taken ONLY at start of the over, and must be conveyed to umpire by batting team. Umpire will then notify bowling team, and like regular powerplay ONLY 2 fielders will be allowed outside 30 yard circle.

2)      Batting team can opt for batting powerplay at any time after mandatory regular powerplay overs. If not opted until 19th over, last two overs of batting innings will be batting powerplay.

Teams/Umpires are not required to record toss videos. Also, recording and uploading videos will be responsibility of WINNING team’s captain. Umpires are obliged to conduct post match presentation, but they will not be responsible for recording and uploading.
