Points -Each game winner gets 6 points. -Tie/No Result points each team gets 3 points each. -If after 20 overs scores are level, there will be one super over to decide the result. If super over results in tie, game will be tie. -Seeding is decided by points, if tied NRR will be used break tie breaker. -Game schedule can’t be altered, this is to ensure the tournament will not drag on forever. If a game didn’t happen on the scheduled day for any reason points will be split between the teams in the league stage. For play-offs, we’ll have a reserve day.
Tournament Format -4 teams. Each plays the other 3 teams once in the league stage. -All 4 teams play the play-offs. -League stage is only to decide top seeds for play-offs. The top two teams get the advantage of having a second chance, in the form of an eliminator, should they lose their play-off game (IPL style). -20 over innings. -Total 6 power play overs. First 4 overs mandatory power play. Batting and bowling sides get one power-play over each. -During power play, only 2 players allowed outside the inner circle. -Any time, only 5 fielders allowed on any side. Off-side, or leg-side - each side can only have a max 5 fielders. -New Ball to be used at start of each innings. Team captains can decide to change the ball during the innings if the condition of the ball is deemed not playable.
Umpiring -Batting team provides umpires. A 'wise guy' is recommended to be the captain for every team, who can control the aggression and emotions of his own team. This is in order to ensure no fights, due to the relatively loosely formed rules.
-Umpiring decisions are final. Players must not argue with umpires. In case of disputes, only captains can speak up.
-For instances where rules are not defined we use international cricket rules.
Start Time
-Late start will have a penalty. A minimum of 7 players are required on each side to start the game. A 15-minute grace period will be given to a team that doesn’t have the 7 players on time; however, 1 point will be taken out for each 5 minutes of delay - up to a maximum of 3 points.
-If a team did not have the required 7 players even after the 15-minute grace period, they’ll forfeit the game and the opposite teams is declared winner.
-Any player who showed up after the game started will not be allowed to play. For example, if a team started game on time with only 8 players but another guy showed up after 10 minutes, he’ll have to sit out. This will encourage everybody to be on time.
-If both teams failed to produce the minimum 7 players by the end of the 15-minute grace period, the game will be cancelled and both teams get zero points. (That is, if both teams are no-show or late-show, points won't be split between the teams).
Mankading -Mankading is allowed, after 1 warning. (1 warning for the entire innings; not per batsman.)
Injury -For players with pre-existing injuries or health conditions, we’ll allow a by-runner provided the opposite captain is notified at least a day in advance.
Team Dynamics -Players can’t move between the teams during the tournament.
-New players can be added later on. This year we going to depend on gentleman's agreement. Team should not get new players just for winning the playoff games.
