Common misconceptions and Rules clarification 

 

  • Bowler wearing cap, sunglasses etc

    1. This is NOT a no ball. Umpire should inform the batsman that the bowler is going to bowl with the caps etc. If it is a distraction to him, then the umpire can ask the bowler to remove them. 

    2. Umpire can NOT give a no ball for not telling him.
      It is umpires responsibility to ask the bowler his guard and whether he is going to bowl with cap, sunglasses etc.

  • Bowlers informing Bowlers guard/side

    1. If a bowler doesn’t inform his guard, then it is NOT a no ball.

    2. It is the umpire's responsibility to ask the bowler his guard and then inform the batsman. 

    3. If the bowler changes the side in the middle of the over without informing the umpire, only then its a NO Ball. 

  • Not a NO BALL for the change for keeper.

    1. Umpire should ask and inform the batsman. 

    2. Same for the keeper standing close.

    3. If changed during the runup, ONLY then it will be a DEAD BALL, not a no ball.   

  • Batter should not leave crease before the umpire counts the ball and the ball is dead. 

  • Keeper should hold the ball and make it dead before passing. Pass the ball to the side and not straight to the bowler. Do not pass it immediately, It just creates confusion and delays the game. 

  • Captain should pre decide, before arriving for the toss, what they will choose if they win the toss and immediately inform the opponent captain and the umpire.

  • Next game should begin within 10mins of previous game ending.

    1. If the game doesn’t start, then whichever team is present at the ground with its 7 players shall be awarded the WIN.

    2. If both the teams are not present, then the game is abandoned. Both the teams receive '0'/Zero points. 

  • ​All the times mentioned in the schedule and fiixtures are toss time. The Game time 15 mins after toss time and that is when the first ball time should be bowled.

  • No fees/Money transactions on the ground.

    1. It is very difficult for the organizers to handle money on the ground.

    2. Please settle everything off the ground before the tournament.

    3. ​‘Lots day’ is the last day to make the final payment. 

  • Min 7 players needed for the toss and to start and to play the game.
    Maximum 4 subsitutes allowed.  

  • Batting team responsibility to score the game along with the bowling team.The Organizers should only monitor and can intereve only in cases of disputes.

  • Batter’s can NOT unnecessarily check the game ball after every boundary. Also, they can not violently squeeze or press or try to damage the ball.

    1. ​If there is any concern, they should inform the umpire.

    2. They can be given out ‘damaging the ball’.

  • Umpires should not explain their decision. Also, They not guve the decision in hurry. Please pause and think for a few seconds, think and then give the decision. 

  • No discussion on the umpire's decision.

    1. If there are any questions, only the captain can clarify.

    2. All batting team and bowling team fielders should stay at their fielding positions. This is MUST.   

  • No one from the fielding team or anyone outside can inform any fielding issue and any decisions to the umpire. He can make decisions only if he observes it personally. 

  • Maintain the game pace and over rate. 5mins per over. 

  • Maximum 4 substitutes allowed.

    1. ​They can not bowl or bat or keep.

    2. They can field only inside the circle. 

    3. Substitutes can not have their own substitutes.  

  • Dont argue with the umpires even if they are wrong.

  • Umpires can change their decision if they clarify themselves and before the next delivery, especially with regards to boundaries and catches. 

  • Boundary fielder should stay at their catching/fielding positions if there is any disputes. 

  1. Allow umpire to their own decision.

  2. Please Don’t try to influence or threaten the umpire.

  • Whatever happens, fielding team fielders should always saty at their fielding postions as all times. 

  • ​Don’t gather near the pitch or near the umpire "lagaan style". Please stay at your positions. 

    Every player should not count the score. If any one person miscounts, it just creates confusion.

    The fielder nearest to the scorer can keep track of the score and announce to their team after the over. The scorer will anyways announce the score after every over. so, please dont ask for the score every ball.
