Players' Code of Conduct & Sports WaiverThe body, herein termed the league, shall properly be called the Brant County Cricket League also refer (known) as BCCL.
The BCCL Code of Conduct has been purpose to improve players conduct towards umpiring, players and alcohol and drug free games. Please read through it thoroughly and acquaint yourself before AGM. The Code of Conduct will be strictly adhered to and the umpire will bring the charge(s) to the Grievance Committee/Board. As a general rule, the Captain of the side is responsible for the behavior and conduct of the players in the team. Apart from the charged player, the Captain will also be penalized and/or fined for the behavior and conduct of his players.
BCCL Board's jurisdiction: In case of any disputes and contradictions, the Board will adjudicate as to the correct interpretation and application of the Code of Conduct.
Suspension and payment of fines:• Suspensions: All suspensions will be immediately applicable, as of the next scheduled league game. If the infraction was during the last played gamed of the season for the team/club, or if the suspensions cannot be served completely during the current season, they will apply to the player/offender from the first scheduled game of the next season for the team/club that the player is registered with.
• Fines: All fines are payable before the next scheduled game or the following weekend, whichever is earlier.
Appeal processThere is NO APPEAL for a Level-1 infraction charge. For an infraction of the magnitude of Level-2, Level-3, Level-4 and/or General Offences, a player/team/club has a right to appeal within the set time-frame, as specified with each infraction level. This appeal, along with the appeals processing fee $50, has to reach the Secretary of the League, along with any documentation, pictures or evidence that relate to the case and will support the appeal. Failure to do so within the set time-frame will void the right of the player/team/club to dispute the charge, and the penalties/fines will be served as indicated. In case of an appeal, the player can play till the appeal process is completed. The applicable fines and the fee of $50 for the appeal processing will have to be deposited with the league as per the set time-frames for the appeal process to start, failing which, the appeal will be rejected.
BCCL Code of Conduct Level 1 (No appeal allowed)
- Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings
- Showing dissent at an umpire's decision by action or verbal abuse
- Using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting and/or the making of an obscene gesture
- Repeated excessive appealing and intimidating the umpires and players
- Pointing or gesturing towards the pavilion in an aggressive manner by a bowler or other member of the fielding side upon the dismissal of a batsman
- Public criticism of, or inappropriate comment on a match related incident or match official Applicable Penalty/Fines:
Player/Offender:
- 1 (one) game suspension Player $50
- Team/Club: None
- Captain: None
Level 2
- Repeat of level 1 offence within the same season/year
- Inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players in the course of play
- Charging or advancing towards the umpire in an aggressive manner when appealing
- Deliberate and malicious distraction or obstruction on the field of play
- Throwing the ball, bat or any equipment at or near a player, umpire or official in an inappropriate and dangerous manner
- Changing the condition of the balling breach of Law 42.3
- Any attempt to manipulate a match in regard to the result, net run rate, bonus points, or otherwise. The captain of any team guilty of such conduct will be held responsible.
Applicable Penalty/Fines:
- Player/Offender: 2 (two) games suspension
- Player $200
- Team / Club: $None
- Captain: Warning letter
Level 3
- Repeat of level 2 offence within the same season/year
- Threat of assault on another player, Team Official or spectator
Applicable Penalty/Fines:
- Player/Offender: 3 to 5 (three to five) games suspension (board to decide)
- Player $500 Team/Club: $100 and -5 points from the season's point tally
- Captain: 2 games suspension
Level 4
- Repeat of level 3 offence within the same season/year
- Physical assault of another player, umpire, referee, official or spectator, use of alcohol, drug or any intoxicating substance during or for match duration by the player
- Any act of violence on the field of play
Applicable Penalty/Fines:
- Player/Offender: Expulsion from the league
- Team/Club: $250 and -10 points from the season's point tally
- Captain: 4 (four) games suspension (board to decide)
General offencesThe following are the general categories of serious offences, carrying the highest penalties:
a - Gambling on matches (betting)
b - Failing to perform in a match in return for benefit, such as money or goods (match-fixing)
c - Inducing a player to perform one of the above actions
d - Failure to report certain incidents relating to match-fixing or gambling
e - Any activity, or supporting any activity, which is in direct contradiction to the establishment of BCCL, or is detrimental to the operations of the league, in words or action
Applicable Penalty/Fines:
- Player/Offender: Expulsion from the league
- Team/Club: Expulsion from the league
- Captain (and all the registered club players): Expulsion from the league
Sports WaiverSport activity Cricket to be referred to as Sport in this document.
DefinitionIn this release agreement the term Sport shall include all activities, events or services provided, arranged, organized, conducted, sponsored or authorized by releasees (known as BCCL) and shall include, but not limited to Sport, Sport rental, orientation and instructional courses, seminar and sessions, travel, transportation and accommodation and other such activities, events and services in any way connected with or related to Sport.
Protective EquipmentI have been advised to wear all protective equipment that is required by the rules and regulation of the governing body of my sport.
Assumption of Risks
- I am aware that Sport involve many risks, dangers and hazards. The risks, dangers and hazards, including but not limited to loss of balance, difficulty or inability to control one’s speed and direction, variation or steepness in terrain, rapid or uncontrolled acceleration on hills and inclines, mechanical failure of equipment, variation or changes in the playing surface including rocks, gravel, changing weather conditions, exposure to temperature extremes or inclement weather, travel or transport to and from the sites used for Sport, travel on highways and backcountry roads, encounters with domestic and wild animals including dogs, bears and cougars, collision with pedestrians, motor vehicles, cyclists, and other players, failing to play safely or within the limitations of one’s own abilities, negligence of other participants and negligence on the part of the releasees, including the failure on the part of the risks releases to safeguard or protect me from the risks, danger and hazards of Sport.
- I am aware of the risks, dangers and hazards associated with Sport and I freely accept and fully assume all such risks, dangers and hazards and the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss resulting therefrom.
Release of liability, waiver of claims and indemnity agreementIn consideration of the releases agreeing to my participation in Sport and permitting my use of their services, equipment and other facilities and for other good and valuable consideration the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged, I hereby agree as follow:
- To waive any and all claims that I have or may in the future have against the releasees and to release the releasees from any and all liability for any loss, damage, expense or injury including death, that I may suffer or that my next of kin may suffer as a result of my participation in Sport due to any cause whatsoever, including negligence, breach of contract or breach of any statutory or other duty of care, including any duty of care owed under the occupier liability act, on the part of the releasees, and further including the failure on the part of the releasees to safeguard or protect me from the risks, danger and hazards of participating in the Sport referred to above.
- To hold harmless and indemnity the releasees for any and all liability for ay property damage, loss or personal injury to any third party resulting from my participation in Sport.
- This release agreement shall be effective and binding upon my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns and representatives in the event of my death or incapacity.
- The release agreement and any rights, duties and obligations as between the parties to this release agreement shall be governed by and interpreted solely in accordance with the laws of the province where the sport takes place and no other jurisdiction.
- Any litigation involving the parties to this release agreement shall be brought solely within the province where the Sport takes place and shall be within the exclusive jurisdictions of the courts of that province.
- I confirm that I have read and understood the release agreement prior to accepting or signing it and I am aware that by doing so I am waiving certain legal right which I or my heirs, next of kin, executor, administrator assigns and representatives may have against the releasees.

Players' Code of Conduct & Sports Waiver by registering with BCCL for any tournaments and games or activities they participate.
Legal Guardian accept if participant is under 18 years as of 1May of the year.
