CRICKET BOARD OF MALDIVES HOLDS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Cricket Board of Maldives (CBM) held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday 18th September 2021. The meeting had been postponed twice due to restrictions following outbreaks of COVID-19.

Following a moments silence in remembrance of Madih Ismail, CBM President Mohamed Faisal made a statement at the opening of the AGM, highlighting the challenges imposed by COVID, and noted that after the election of the new Executive Committee in September 2020, the focus has been on strengthening the management and administration of the Board, and reducing the costs due to financial difficulties.

He also updated the members on the achievements of Plan120 instituted just after the new Executive Committee assumed office. Plan120, is a 120 day plan outlining the ‘workplan’ of the new Committee to achieve short term objectives in managing and administering the Board.

During his statement, President Faisal also focused on planned activities for 2021 and 2022 including the ongoing process of formulating the long-term strategic plan of the CBM.

President Mohamed Faisal said: “We are looking at 2030 in our deliberations and discussion to formulate the Board’s new strategic plan. My aim is to, through a collective process, come up with long-term strategic plan for the development of cricket which will be carried forward and implemented by future members of the Board. What we are looking at is a continuous development process that will not be affected by changes in leadership.”

Following presentations, members voted to approve the 2020 Annual Report, 2020 Auditors Report and the 2021 Budget. A firm was also selected and approved to undertake the Board’s 2021 audit.

Members also voted to grant CBM membership to three new clubs after they were deemed to have fulfilled membership requirements.
With the addition of new members, the current membership of CBM stands at twenty-eight.
