Cayman Cricket Returns with a BANG!

Cayman Cricket action returns to the Jimmy Powell Oval on September 13th, 2020 after a long lay off due to Covid-19.
The tournament will feature 4 drafted teams. Teams were drafted by captains of the four franchises from a pool of over 60 players. Tournament organizer Ricardo Roach believes that this tournament will begin to grow and improve the overall standard of cricket played.

"The Cayman Islands has always had good, competitive club cricket. This is an opportunity for the players to play outside of their comfort zones and really shine through as individuals. I expect the competition to be highly entertaining and competitive. We have some exciting players on show and I know that they will not disappoint."

This is the second edition of the tournament and the increased interest has already seen one more team added, the North East Barracudas.

The North East Barracudas will be captained by Cayman Cricket national team stalwart Conroy Wright - "We are all happy to have some form of activity and we are looking forward to playing the game that we love. It will give our mind a break from the pandemic that's taking place worldwide."

The Bodden Town Eagle Rays will be captained by Caribbean known top-order batsman Paul Manning - "I personally think it’s a great idea after such a long and stressful time during the pandemic worldwide, it will bring joy to most faces which we all need at this time."

The West Bay Loggerheads will be lead by Cayman's leading all-rounder Troy Taylor - "I think it’s good, came at the right time, it’ll help to bring back some sort of normality in these testing times."

The George Town Hammerheads will be lead by one of Cayman's most achieved sportsmen, Ramon Sealy - "I feel the upcoming tournament will be a welcome return to playing the sport we love. It will provide us all with a fun yet competitive environment to showcase our talents after the long break, and will be nice to see friends and familiar faces once again."

The first game bowls off at 10:30 AM on Sunday, September 13th, 2020 at the Jimmy Powell Oval.
