ORLANDO CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2024
Playing Conditions
MCC Laws governing except where otherwise stated in these playing conditions. The tournament games will be played in accordance with the Laws of Cricket Code 2017 edition 2022 and more importantly the spirit of the Game.
Tournament Format

10 Teams will be divided into two groups of 5 teams each.
Each team will play the other four teams in its group (round-robin).
Teams will be ranked based on this order total points, NRR and head-to-head.
Top ranked team from each group will automatically qualify to the semifinal.
The second and third ranked teams in each group will play an eliminator against the second and third ranked teams from the other group.
The winners of the two eliminators will qualify for the semifinals.

Player Conduct
Spirit of the Game

All players are expected to uphold the Spirit of Cricket and behave in a respectful manner.
Umpires have the right to issue warnings for misconduct. If the issue persists or repeated, the Umpire can report to the tournament committee and the committee reserves the right to expel the player or players from the tournament.

Tournament Roster

Each team is allowed a roster of maximum 20 players for the entire tournament. The deadline to submit the final roster is October 4th, 2024. Any changes in the roster beyond October 4th will have to be approved by the tournament committee and will bear a fee of $50 per change (if approved by the committee). No changes to the roster will be allowed after October 10th under any circumstances.
If a team is stuck with less than 20 players at the deadline, then that team will have to make do with whatever number of players have registered up to the deadline.
The Tournament Organizers will share the registered list of players as we approach the deadline.

Game Roster

Each team could consist of a maximum of 11 players (who can bat / bowl / field / keep wickets). A maximum of 4 possible impact players can be named; however only ONE can be picked during the game. When declaring the selected the impact player, the impact player will have to replace one player from the starting 11 for that game. The player that is getting replaced cannot be on the field even as a substitute fielder. The replaced player may join as a regular player / substitute fielder during the super over if the game enters that mode.
Substitutes may field in the event of an injury to a player and upon approval from the umpires. A substitute fielder cannot keep wickets or bowl or bat. Captains are required to be clear about nominating a substitute fielder vs Impact player to avoid any confusions with the umpire(s) as well as the scorers.
Captains are expected to inform the umpire(s) & opponent captain about any player(s) joining late to the game, during toss.
It is every team’s responsibility to ensure the opponent team’s playing eleven are not misrepresented. Each team has until the start of the first over (of the game) to report any missing player from the other team.
Any player that has been nominated in the playing eleven and shows up after the start of the game, will have to wait out the number of overs they missed before they can bat or bowl. Impact player can join the game at any point and will NOT be subjected to the penalty the playing 11 would be (if joining late).
Players can join only at the end of an over or at the fall of a wicket.
Impact player can be announced only at the end of an over or at the fall of a wicket or before the first ball of the second innings.

Playoff Qualification

Each player on the team roster must have played in at least one round robin game as part of playing eleven to qualify to play in the playoffs.
Rained off games will not be counted towards the play off qualification.
Only the starting 11 and the impact player will be eligible towards the count with respect to the play off qualification; please use this option wisely to nominate an impact player every game (including those potential easy wins).

Bowling Restriction

Each Team will get to Bowl 10 overs.
Each bowler is allowed to bowl a maximum of 2 overs.

Match Timings

Each inning must be completed in 45 minutes.
A 10-minute interval will be allowed between innings.
Teams not completing their overs within the stipulated time will be fined as follows:
- Penalized 5 runs for every over they play (batting team or bowling team) beyond their stipulated time.
Umpires Decision will be final in this regard.

Toss

The toss will take place 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the match.
The winner of the toss can choose to either bat or field first.
Each team, regardless of whether they are batting or bowling first must have at least 8 players on the ground ready to play at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start of play. Umpires will start deducting overs at the rate of 1 over every 5 minutes against the team that fails to produce the players on the field in time.

Powerplay

The first 4 overs of the innings will be considered as Powerplay overs.
Only 2 fielders are allowed to field outside the 30-yard circle during the powerplay overs.
Minimum 4 fielders must be inside the 30-yard circle at any given time during the match.

No Balls, Wide balls, and Free Hits
No Balls

Any delivery above the waist on the full will be called a No Ball.
A bowler overstepping the popping crease will also result in a No Ball.
A bowler stepping their back foot on the return crease will also result in a No Ball.
Only one short pitch delivery (above shoulder high but below head high) is allowed per over. A second short pitch ball will automatically be declared a No ball.

Free Hit

The delivery following a no-ball will be a Free Hit. The batsman can only be dismissed under the same conditions as for a no-ball.

Wide Balls

Any ball bowled outside the reach of the batsman on offside will be declared a wide ball. Every delivery pitched down the leg side and continuing down the leg will be a wide ball.
Umpires are always the correct person to make the decision. A wide is called keeping in mind the batsman movements and position around the crease as well. Hence, the umpire’s call will always be final.

Tie

If the match ends in a tie, a Super Over will be played to determine the winner.
Each team will face 1 over
The team scoring the most runs in the Super Over will be declared the winner.
The 12 players (starting 11 + impact player) are the only ones who can be considered to play in a super over.
Each team will assign three batsmen to play the super over. At any point if a team loses two wickets, their super over will come to an end.
During the round-robin, in the event of a tie in the Super Over, both teams will receive 1 point each.
The bowler nominated to bowl in a super over cannot be one of the three batsmen nominated to bat in the super over.
During playoffs, the Super Over will be continued until a result is obtained. The 4 players that represented first super over cannot be nominated again in the next super over (in case of a tied super over) but can be on the field as wicket keeper / pure fielders.

Points System (for Round Robin)

Win: 3 points.
Super Over loss: 1 point.
Loss: 0 points.
Forfeiture: If a team forfeits, the opposing team is awarded a win (3 points). The forfeiting team will get 3 points deducted from their total.

Dispute Resolution

The decision of the umpires on the field is final.
Any disputes or concerns raised after the match will be handled by the Tournament Committee. Their decision will be final and binding.

Equipment
Cricket Balls

All matches will be played with specially branded Orlando Champions Trophy balls.

Uniforms

All Team members must wear identical uniforms, and each player must have a unique jersey number.

Safety and Injuries
Player Safety

Protective gear (helmets, pads, etc.) must be worn by players while batting or keeping, as per regulations.

Injuries

Injured players can be substituted as per the tournament rules, but no substitute will be allowed to bat or bowl.
No bye-runner will be allowed to any batsman.
