Central Park, cricket field opening ceremony took place on Saturday, May 09, 2015.
Councilor and Deputy Marrian Meed ward performed the ribbon cutting ceremony and threw the first ball to senior most cricketers in Burlington, 94 years old Frank Sharman and fellow councilor Paul Sharman.

Ceremony was attended by Councilor and deputy Mayor Marrian Meed Ward, Councilors, Paul Sharman and John Taylor, City Staff Chris Glen, Director of Parks and Recreation and others parks and recreation staff, Praim Persaud, President Cricket Council of Ontario and Lynn McNeil and Natalie from Ontario Trillium Foundation and Federal Liberal Candidate Karina Gould.
Large number of Community people and cricket Burlington Association members was also on hand to make the event memorable one.

Cricket Burlington President Shah Zafar and members appreciated and thanks the Trillium foundation for their funding allocation this worthy project and Councillor Marrian Meed Ward for her continuous support for the project, Chris Glen, Director of Park and Recreation for his leadership for the project and Doug Plasden for his guidance and process orientation to carry forward the project to the completion.

The efforts are underway to start Junior cricket and a house league in the City of Burlington for youth in promoting the game of cricket in Burlington, school cricket and senior day as part of the a program “Active Life through Cricket” in Burlington.
