Outsiders Strangle RP Rockers:

Last week it was Challengers who strangle Outsiders and this week it’s Outsiders turn. On a bright and sunny morning at San Jose School and RP Rockers won the toss and opt to bat. This decision turned against them as they have lost 3 quick wickets for just 13 runs to Sekhar and Sreedhar. Oustiders bowling department seem to be hungry for wickets as they are chewing up the wickets in no time. Might be that they are practicing more or they are more zelous, whatever might be the reason but they are targeting the right areas. Specially Malli and Sekhar bowled 8 overs with 3 maidens, 4 wickets and just 10 runs in support Sreedhar, Mohan, Murali and Sateesh supported them sharing wickets restricting RP Rockers to 50 runs. Mathi was the only batsmen who could made it to double digits for their team. In reply Outsiders started cautiously and Mohan gave a good start to Outsiders scoring 6 in first over. Outsiders lost their first wicket of Sandeep in second over. Sekhar on other end acted as catalyst for this low scoring game scoring 10 runs in 3 balls with a six and four took the pressure off the team and a step closer to victory. It was Sree E who played captain’s innings with little support from Venkat making sure that his team tastes the victory at end. Outsiders can uncork their Champagne bottles as they have their first comfortable win dominating in all departments which will raise their confidence sky high. RP Rockers might have started poorly but sure they will bounce back hard for next game on other hand Outsiders will have to continue their form to make it big this season.

Fastest FCA Ton decimates Spartans:

Spartans, a new Team were playing their first FCA league match and won the toss to put Raiders in. Raiders were thrilled that they got to bat first as it was a hot day to bat second. Looking back Spartans would have never let them in thanks to a blistering knock by Faisal. He made his maiden T20 century in FCA (a fastest one too, 110 in 49 balls). Scoring century is not easy especially in this heat. He is only the third batsman to score a ton. Though Spartans bowlers bowled few loose balls but still they had to be put away and every loose ball was dealt severely by him. By now you all might think just because its Faisal I have been writing all this but the fact is most of the old teams have seen him play and will agree with me on this. Thanks to Outsiders for leaving the cones for our match as we don’t have to sweat much setting up the field. Raiders lost their first wicket in first over though it was Sailesh who started hitting the ball giving a blasting start where I happened to join him scoring few more runs. After losing Sailesh, Faisal came into the crease who happened to start slowly working the ball and slowly transformed his innings into blasting one, making Spartans bowlers clueless. Addition to this Raiders Fire Cracker lived up to his expectation scoring quick 18 runs with 2 4’s and 1 6 along with Joy who scored 11 runs in 4 balls concluding the innings at 225 runs. In reply Nazy rattled Spartans top order along with joy claiming 3 and 2 wickets each. It was Spartans Captain Senthil who held the innings for long time but couldn’t produce a win for his team, however Spartans have a good bowling line up to bounce back real strong in next match.

 Gladiators Stuns Warriors XI:

By this time I was totally exhausted with heat but yet decided to stay for some time to watch this game. My initial impression was Warriors XI would win over Gladiators, as it’s a new team and it takes at least couple of matches for them to settle down. I could not have been happier to be wrong. Gladiators won the toss and elected to bat. It was their opening pair Ruthvij and Ratna who fired against Warriors XI bowling attacking scoring boundaries. Which has been well carried by middle order Rajaram, Rakesh, Suresh and Umesh contributing runs and they made sure they have a very good total on board of 157 runs. In reply Warriors XI opening pair has given good start but it was not been carried by middle and lower order. Karthi tried from his end scoring 13 runs but that was not just enough for his team to register a victory. Gladiators have not just stun Warriors XI but it just sent out a simple message saying that they are up for any challenge. This only proves that new team or old team the competitive nature of this tournament brings out the best of everybody. On other hand Warriors XI will have to come up with new ways of improving their performance overall as they will be in crucial matches going forward.

Eagles Clinch a Heart Stopper:

Eagles had an average outing last season and made few changes in the team, this only proves that they are determined this time. Eagles who won toss decided to bowl first. This was turning out to be good decision until Ravi K and Ravi R started playing their strokes. Once this pair gets going they are certain to make you pay for it. That is exactly what Ravi R did. He score a brilliant 50 which catapulted Strikers score which at one point was struggling at 56/5. Binil, Mayank, Silus and Raj bowled on target sharing almost equal wickets among them. Strikers managed respectable 117 runs. In reply everything went against Eagles as Sumit, Anand, Kotesh, Ravi R, and Sreekanth Y were on target getting wickets on regular interval. Victory seemed closer and closer. Until Silus came to the crease. Silus started slow and cautious but was getting ocassional boundary. To me the partnership between Silus and Mayank is the one that took the game away. Mayank fell in17th over. In the end it boiled out to a point where 15 runs were needed in 6 balls having Silus on strike and Sumit bowling.  Sumit gave only 1 run in the previous over which gave captain more confidence to rely on him. Normally Strikers are real good in handling this kind of situation by holding there nerves but even a strong team will have a bad day and this time it was Silus who held  his nerves. Silus finished the game in just 4 balls with 2 6s and 1 4. It’s hardly been a week FCA started and we are already seeing such thrillers which says how entertaining this tournament has shaped into. A magnificent day of big- hitting inspired by Silus which ended in a desperate finish. Eagles tasted the sweet victory this season with a heroic innings of much needed 45 runs in 34 balls. Now the fun begins, let’s wait and see onto whom the Strikers fury be unleashed.

Jax Titans secure first win against RBCC:

RBCC won the toss and opt to bowl. They were successful in getting a breakthrough in form of run out by samarth but Gagan and Satish steadied the innings by scoring 32 and 49 runs laying down a good platform for lower middle order to score big. As expected it was Vijay who scored quick 12 runs in 6 balls securing a total of 125 runs. In reply RBCC opening pair gave a good start in form of Sam who scored 40 runs. Inspite of some good contribution by Harshad and Samarth RBCC fell short of 9 runs in the end. Good contribution by Jignesh, Rajesh and Vijay from Jax Titans and Rushabh, Jignesh D, Samarth and Sridhar from RBCC who restricted the batsmen.

Defending Champions Crushed Kings:

This match stared late and by this time the Sun kind of setting and the humidity was about 55%. It was a real test for players to prove their stamina as it was around 102 degrees. Unfortunately or fortunately I was umpiring feeling the heat with this players. Winning the toss Twenty Two has decided to bat first where their opening batsmen Qadeer gave a good start scoring 28 runs in just 18 balls along with Hareesh who was on fire scoring 29 runs in just 14 balls. However their middle order fumbled for quick second but it was the Captain Rakesh who took over the steering holding the innings along with Sakthi who scored a magnificent half century (69 of 38 balls) at crunch time. I can remember only 1 player in 22 balls who could bat in top gear straight away and he is Mahesh. Right from the first ball he was hitting the ball over boundary which left the bowlers clueless. With his quick 36 runs in 18 balls, Twenty Two balls scored a mammoth 218 runs in 20 overs. In reply their main stream bowlers Vivek and Venkat ripped off Kings batting order with their amazing speed and length. Inspite of some good batting performance from Kailash, Rama Krishna, Murali and Captain Hemanth Kings could not score more than 110 runs before they had to give up their last wicket. Twenty Two picked up where they left off and looked dangerous this season by sending out a message "we will not give it back!!” Kings on the other hand seemed like a good team, it just that they had a bad day and hope will come back strong.
