Teams,

Last Sunday 8-21-2016, the 7:30 AM match between Strikers and Eagles was delayed by more than 80 mins. This caused a ripple effect and subsequent matches were delayed substantially. The last match ended at 7:15 PM in the evening. FCA received many complaints regarding this and this is not acceptable. We know some delays cannot be avoided but more than 90 minutes of delay is a major concern.

FCA consulted the umpires and inquired the reason for the delay (multiple reasons were found) and based on the findings here are the penalties for delaying the match

·         Captain of Strikers Praveen Chandupatla is being issued YELLOW card.

·         Strikers are fined $25 for the delay and a replacement umpire was needed for last match

·         Eagles’ captain Silus Samuel is given a YELLOW card for delaying the game.

Eagles’ are fined $25 for the delay and a replacement umpire was needed for last match

·         Umpires Dinesh and Arun are being given a final warning for not taking any action for the delay by either reducing the overs or hurrying up the play.

Note: Umpires are representative of FCA and they must implement the delay rules if the game slows down. They can always call us in any case and we can help them through the process. Cards are always at umpires’ disposal and we will send some basic guidelines by tomorrow.

Steps going forward:

If the game does not start at 7:45 AM, Umpires must reduce one for every 5 minutes of delay if both teams are at fault. If only one team is at fault they will face lesser overs when they bat.

Ex:          Team batting first delayed the game for 15 mins, they will face 17 overs.

If the team bowling first causes delay, they will start the chase with 17 overs.

If umpires are late, their team will lose 2 points (1 per umpire) and $50 fine.

The same principle is applicable for all the other matches as well.

FCA will monitor all the games going forward very strictly.

As a general note please be courteous and a little patient with the umpires, we know that not everyone is perfect and we need to work with what we have. Any misbehavior brought to our notice towards umpire will be dealt severely. Teams also make sure that you send umpire who are aware of the FCA rules or make them familiar to the FCA rules.

FCA-EC would like to thank all the teams for being co-operative to make this three game weekend a smooth process.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
