TROPICAL SPORTS CLUB CROWNED TRIPLE CHAMPIONS!!!

Richard Hoilette's defiant unbeaten 36 runs and Ryan Wong  timely 21 not out helped Tropical to hold on to a gripping 1 wicket win over NCA-Mavericks of  Nashville in the GASCL MME 40 overs cup final played at Mark Trail cricket field yesterday(10/9/2016).
Tropical’s skipper Alford Givance won the toss and opted to bowl first on a cool fall morning. NCA opening pair of Shiv Salgotra and Kalyan Ramamurthy lasted only 3 deliveries when Ryan Wong clean bowled Salgotra for a duck. Richard Hoilette removed Kalyan who hang around for 25 balls scoring just 7 runs. Rohan Mohite and Preet Malhotra fought  to put the Nashville team back on the right footing with a 76 runs partnership. Right arm spinner Ahsan Plummer gave his team the control when he dismissed Preet with  his first ball and removed Srimanth Bridavanam and Utsav restricting NCA to 120-6. Varinder Sidhu and captain Madan Addala paired up for the repair work to put up an useful 53 runs partnership for the 7th wicket before Addala went for 25.Sidhu anchored the NCA innings with the help of his late order and his team   reached a defendable 218 All out runs in their allotted 39.3  overs. Rohan Mohite  top scored for NCA with a well compiled 63 runs in 54 balls. Varinder  41. Ahsan Plummer was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets for 37 runs. Tropical Sports Club  chasing a modest target of 218 got off to a flamboyant start as the opening pair displayed an array of elegant cover drives  to race on to 22 runs before Srimanth Brindavanam removed David Hoilette for 7.

Plummer was then joined by his captain Alford Givance But plummer went soon after bowled by Rohan Mohite for 16. Vernon Boswel came in and went quickly for 4, So did Basil Williams for a quick 17. Ridwan Palsh tried to stick around but scored just 12. Skipper Al Givance went for a well-played 34 and Tropical was struggling at 110-6. Tony Powell went back to the basics to repair the damage with Richard hoilette before running himself out for 30.  Jamel Morgan smashed 25 before been given out lbw to Utsav. Tropical then found themselves in a desperate situation at 178-9 , when fast bowler Ryan Wong stroll to the wicket and provide ample support to Hoilette. Wong had some anxious moments when he survived an extremrly confident appeal for LBW off the bowling of Sidhu and played and missed a few times.
In the penultimate over Sidhu bowling to Ryan Wong with 9 runs remain , lost his composure and deliver and low full toss on the leg stump and Wong gleefully dispatched for 6. Tropical won by 1 wicket and was crowned  triple Champions after this very exiting final.
