Tropical Sports Club wins GASCL Caribbean Sports and Marketing T-20 Championship!! Tropical Sports Club pulled off another win as they added the T/20 championship trophy to make it two from two alongside the 30 Overs cup. Tropical finished as the only unbeaten team in the competition. After beating the defending champions NCA-Mavericks in the semi-finals, Tropical ran into a very confident outfit in CSC who defeated Somerset in their semi-final. CSC were making a GASCL final for the first time. CSC won the toss and took first strike, informed opener Gavaskar Channer hit 51 from 49 balls to set up CSC’s total of 146-7 at the end of their allotted 20 overs. Frederick Redwood (19); Carson McCalman(17) were the other contributors to the scoreboard, while veteran off spinner John slocombe bagged 3/9 and Ahsan Plummer 2/30. Tropical got solid batting performances from Vernon Boswell (69*) and Ahsan Plummer (30*) to get their team to 147-2 to post an easy victory in the end. Ahsan Plummer with his solid all-round performance was the finals MVP, just edging out Vernon Boswell. Guest of honour was former Jamaica captain and west indies player , Maurice Foster who presented the trophies. In attendance also was former west Indies and Jamaica player Desmond lewis who is a member and former player of Tropical Sports Club. The semi-finals of the 40 overs kicks off in high gear on Sunday October 2, 2016. Game 1: Somerset clashes with defending champions @ Best Academy 11 AM. Game 2: UBACC travels to Nashville to take on NCA-Mavericks @ Whites Creek Elementary School field. |
