• Hamilton Hawks Cricket Club added another championship to thier name by clinching 2017 Ed Burns T-20 chamionship. Taking on last year's winners Crescent Cricket Club in the final - Hamilton Hawks amassed a very formidable score of 187 for loss of 5 wickets in their alloted 20 overs helped by a steady 58 runs by opener Saqib Rehman that included 3 fours and 4 sixes. Middle order all-rounder Zeshan Arshad added a quickfire 53 off just 29 balls including 6 sixes and 1 four. Crescent Cricket Club in defence of thier 2016 title - got off to a shaky start and kept losing witckets at regular interval despite a fighting well made 70 runs by Saqib Hafeez. Skipper Aqeel Raja with 3 wickets for 26 runs and off-spinner Iqbal Seta with 3 wickets for 8 runs were too much for Cresent batsmen to handle - who were all out n 19th over for a score of 130 runs, Hawks won the final by 57 runs. Congratulations to Hamilton Hawks Cricket Club from city of Hamilton for a winning end to 2017 season...
  • Oakville Cricket Club won the  Hamilton & District Cricket League 2017 First Divison championship by over-coming a huge target set by Niagara Cricket Academy in the final played on Saturday Sept 23 at Glenashton Cricket Park in Oakville.

    After being put in to bat first, NCA started off cautiously and started accelerating in the middle overs, with Maninder Gill anchoring the innings and playing some remarkable shots on his way to a classy and powerful 113.  Oakville managed to slow NCA down in the last few overs by taking wickets, but were staring down at 254 to win.

    Oakville got off to a flying start, courtesy of Ehsan who scored 76 runs.  After a mini collapse, Oakville were down to 113/5 in 20 overs.  After shining with the bat, Maninder took 5 big wickets to put Oakville on the back foot.  Nasrullah Syed (44) anchored the innings well and Oakville tried to keep up with the required rate, but after losing 2 important wickets at cruicial time, Oakville now required 41 runs to win in 4 overs with only 1 wicket in hand.
    Imran Mohammed and Suresh Nair held their nerve and played some smart cricket, and the hits started coming.  Imran hit 4 huge sixes and took the team to the finish line with 3 balls to spare.  

    A remarkable game of cricket, worthy of a Finals, played excellently between two competitive teams.

  • Burlington Warriors Cricket Club of Burlington won the  Hamilton & District Cricket League 2017 Elite Divison championship by over-coming very determined Oakville Cricket Club in the final played on Sunday Sept 24 at Central Cricket Park in Burlington. Batting first Burlington Warriors set a competative target of 243 in 40 overs - thanks largely to an outstanding centruy by star player - Imran Raja. Oakvile Cricket Club started off very positively and were off  to a cracking start with a 72 runs opening wicket partnership between Saad Zafar and skipper Niaz Paracha (41 runs). Oakville was well poised to achieve the target of 243 but got a set back with the dismissal of Saad Zafar (79 runs). Rikin Christian started to take charge after a mini collapse but his untimely runout for 35 runs at score of 193 tilted the match back in favor of Burlington Warrior. Burlington Warriorrs won by 34 runs.

    Imran Raja with a centruy (102 runs) in batting - came back with an outstanding spell of spin bowling to break Oakville's back with a spell of 7 overs 18 runs with 3 important wickets.

    Congratulations to Burlington Warriors Cricket Club for an outstanding season and capping it off with Elite Division title.
  • Crescent Cricket Club from Hamilton who got demoted from Elite Division in 2016, stormed back into Elite Division by virture of come from behind win over number one team in regular season - Brantford Cricket Club from Brantford. Crescent clinched 2017 HDCL Premier Division title by defeating Brantoford in final by 8 runs. Chasing 159 for win its first title - Brantfrod CC were cruising at 148 for 6 and victory was a mere few overs away when in turn of events - Crescent CC claimed last 4 brantford wickets within 2 runs and winning the title by 8 runs.

    Congratulations to Crescent Cricket Club for championship as well as promotion to HDCL Elite Division.
    Congratulations to Brantford Cricket Club for being the best team in regular season thus earning promotion to Elite division.

    Premier Division

    Semi Final 1: Brantford vs Hamilton Renegades SCORECARD
    Brantford batted first and started scoring at a healthy rate.  After losing 3 wickets, Harinder and Paras took the game away from Hamilton with some remarkable batting. They scored 188/4 in 20 overs.
    Hamilton had a big score to chase, and kept losing wickets at regular intervals, Renjit top scored with 32* but Hamilton fell 90 runs short in the end. Harinder Baidwan had a remarkable game, scoring 78 and taking 3 wickets.

    Semi Final 2: Hamilton Hawks vs Hamilton Tigers SCORECARD
    Hamilton Hawks batted first and got off to a slow start, losing a few early wickets. Hamilton Tigers kept the pressure on them, taking wickets at regular intervals, and not allowing them to score freely. They ended up with 127/9 in 20 overs. 
    Hamilton Tigers started strong, and scored runs with ease. Jay Nayak was the only batsman to get out, but Khizar Hamid (23*) joined Usman Ali (54*) to complete the win with 9 wickets in hand and 2 overs to spare.

    Final: Brantford vs Hamilton Tigers SCORECARD
    Brantford started the game batting first, and lost a couple of early wickets. Their middle order stabilised the inning but Hamilton bowlers pulled the game back comfortably, and bowled Brantford all out for 135. Paras (38) and Satnam (33) top scored for Brantford, and Zohaib took 5 wickets.
    Hamilton lost a couple of early wickets up front, but Usman (40) and Rikin (18) build led the recovery, and after Rikin got out, Khizar Hamid came to the crease and played an exciting T20 inning. Khizar scored 68* in 26 balls (5 fours, 6 sixes). His match winning inning helped Hamilton win the game with 7 wickets in hand and 30 balls to spare.

    Hamilton Tigers were crowned as champions for the 2016 Ed Burn Tournament, Premier Division.

    Elite Division

    Semi Final 1: Halton Warriors vs Oakville SCORECARD
    In a low scoring game, Halton batted first and lost 6 wickets for 39 runs in 9 overs.  A few partnerships in the end took them to 77 for 9 in 15 overs, and the last pair added some much needed runs, taking the total to 122.
    Oakville had a similar start, losing 7 wickets in 8 overs with only 61 runs on the board. Kamran Habib (18*) and Ehsan Kharal (42*) put on an unbeaten 63 run partnership to guide their side to victory.

    Semi Final 2: NCA Force One vs Crescent SCORECARD
    Force One scored 121/7 in 20 overs and Crescent chased it successfully with 4 wickets in hand and over to spare.  The low scoring game came down to the wire with Crescent required 30 runs in 3 overs, and Amir Hussain scored 24 runs off one over to change the game around.

    Final: Crescent vs Oakville SCORECARD
    The Champions of 2013 and 2014 faced off in the Elite Division Final.  Batting first, Oakville started off poorly, losing 6 wickets in 7 overs with only 39 runs on the board.  Amit Sawh (42) and Ehsan Kharal (40) put together a 84 run partnership, helping Oakville finish with a challenging total of 150/9 in 20 overs.
    Crescent started remarkably, and kept the scoring rate at almost 11 an over, with Zeshan Arshad (32) taking on the bowlers. The middle order kept the same momentum going, and in the end Crescent chased it down with ease, with 5 wickets in hand and 27 balls to spare.

    Crescent was crowned as champions for the 2016 Ed Burn Tournament, Elite Division.
