Niagara Cricket Club (NCC) lifted HDCL 2020 Super Elite Division (40 Overs) championship trophy by defeating #2 ranked Cambridge Cricket Club (CCC) in a very tightly fought final match. Batting first Cambridge Cricket Club recovered well from 3 early wickets loss to post a very competitive total of 211 all out with handy contributions from Mohsin Darsot 51 and Maulik Arvindbhai 47 runs. For NCC, captain Moghees Mian with 3 wickets, Pragash Podiratnam, Haseeb Babar and Ishan Patel with 2 wickets each were leading bowlers. In the run chase of 212 for a victory, NCC suffered an early collapse and at one point were reduced to 24 for loss of 3 wickets. However, a solid 124 runs partnership for 4th wicket between Man of the Match Sarang Hegde (62 runs) and young Muzzamil Khan (58 runs) put NCC on path to victory. Haseeb Khan with 33 runs not out made sure there was no further collapse after both Sarang and Muzzamil got out in quick succession. For Cambridge CC, Nadim Manjra and Gulam Mohammed chipped in with 2 wickets each. Congratulations to NCC on winning HDCL 2020 Elite Division Championship and good luck for 2021 season. |
