KCC clinched the HCL Championship beating HWK by 122 runs KCC won the toss on a beautiful sunny day and elected to bat first. The outfield was wet and slow, but that was not enough to slow down the KCC openers. The duo added 91 runs on the board before Ashish got bowled by Chaitanya out in 12th. Chaitanya provided the twin breakthrough again for HWK in the 14th over. Sukhen perished after his half century and followed by Bryan after a brief stay in the same over. Jon and Sunil had a small partnership, before Sunil has to retired-hurt due to cramp. Carl joined Jon in the middle and had a decent partnership to move the score past 150. Then came the mini collapse of the middle order, KCC lost a bunch of wickets against Abhay and run rate dropped considerably. The scoreboard was reading 177/7 at one point ? advantage HWK at this time, but for the partnership of Sunil and Adarsh. Sunil came back and took charge as the ball kept disappearing all over the park. While Adarsh hold end up, before opening up towards the end. KCC innings was eventually ended for 250 in 39 over. Chaitanya and Abhay both recorded fifer for HWK. Sukhen (56), Sunil (46), Ashish (34) and Adarsh (28) were the top performers for KCC. KCC knew this is a tough target to chase down, especially with slow outfield. Urvil and Abhai started well with few boundaries. But Amit came back strong in his 2nd over to remove Urvil with a beautiful inswinger. Amit struck again in 5th and 7th over, removing Abhay and Abhinaba respectively. HWK was struggling with 35/4 in 7th over at one point. Parin and Brajesh took over from here and had 50 runs partnership to steady the ship. But the run rate climbed up and it was becoming mission impossible. Pulkit put the final blows, by taking three wickets in his first two overs. Phatak hit few boundaries towards the end, but it was too little too late. HWK innings finally folded for 128/10 in 30 over. Amit (4), Pulkit (3) and Pradeep (1) were the wicket takers from KCC. Parin (30), Phatak (19), Brajesh (18) were the key contributors from HWK. Amit was adjusted man of the match for his 26/4 in 8 overs. A special thanks to Sannel, Deepak, Bishwo for driving down to Des Moines and officiating this match. Much appreciated guys!!
