CVCC won the toss on the wet morning and decided to make the first use of the batting conditions. CVCC did a brilliant job in preparing the ground and making the conditions playable. Uday and Firoz opened the bowling for KCC and bowled good length deliveries that cramped up the openers, Alok and Sagar. Alok was cleaned up by Uday and CVCC got off to a slow start with 12/2 in the first 7 overs. KCC introduced Murali as their first change bowler and in his very first over he dismissed Sagar. Credit goes to Adarsh for taking a skier of a catch at long on. Murali and Vijay slowed down the already quiet CVCC scoring rate. Murali, in his 4th over got Shivraj caught and cleaned up Nadeem and Deepak with his in-swinging deliveries. CVCC were 31/5 at the end of the 14th over. KCC captain introduced part time bowlers - Rajat, Shashank, Abhishek and Kiran. Rajat and Shashank ended up with a wicket each, whereas Abhishek and Kiran bowled tight lines and created opportunities for the fielders. Vaibhav, Nikhil, Mithun - the CVCC tailenders scored some runs and CVCC ended up setting a target of 76 for the visiting KCC team. KCC was happy to experiment with their batting order. Avinash and Kiran opened the innings and played sensibly scoring 14 runs in 4 overs. Shivraj produced an out-swinging beauty to get rid of Avinash. Credit goes to Sagar for an excellent catch at the 1st slip. Very next ball, Abhishek played a flick to a ball on the leg and was caught by Nikhil at square leg. A very impressive reflex catch left KCC dangling at 14/2 in 4 overs. Uday made use of his promotion in the batting order and hit 2 beautiful sixes. A six over the covers (against Farook) and another six over long on (against Bunpreet), set the tone for the KCC chase. Kiran was cleaned up by Shivraj and KCC were 34/3 at the end of the 7th over. Shashank and Money stitched a small partnership and KCC were 58/4 at the end of the 12th over. After being dropped by Bunpreet for 0, Money played some extra-ordinary lofted shots making it easier for KCC. However, KCC lost Shashank and Srini in quick succession and were reduced to 64/6. Rajat and Money sealed the deal for KCC from that situation. Shivraj was the pick of the bowlers for CVCC with 6-3-13-4. Money was the 2nd highest scorer for KCC with 26*, highest being the extras from CVCC (27). KCC would like to give a special mention to the sportsmanship of CVCC. Murali Manne was wearing a black track and there were questions raised while his bowling spell. However, CVCC decided to continue the game and decided to let him bowl. It is always good to play with teams that show sportsmanship. Thank you, CVCC.
