Spartans are the champions of LNCL 2016

Spartans 44/2 (Srini 21, Arun 10*, Jai 1/8) beat TAP 40/6 (Karthick 10, Mohan 3/6) by 5 Wickets. Scorecard and Ball-by-Ball details

Spartans beat TAP convincingly to become Champions of LNCL 2016.

Bowling first after winning the toss, Spartans restricted TAP to 40 in 12 overs. TAP, who've been pacing their innings very well until the final, could not score freely of Spartans' bowlers. Raj departed in the 5th over with the score at 16. Jothi, who's another main stay for TAP fell soon after. 2 more wickets in the same over, incuding Karthick's dismissal pegged back TAP badly. Runs only trickled from there on, and TAP only managed 40 in their allotted quota. Mohan was the pick of bowlers for Spartans, with others bowling tightly around him.

Chasing a modest total, Spartans never looked in trouble. Srini got off to a flying start, and along with Krishna who was playing cautiously, put on 27. Both the openers departed in a space of 3 balls, and TAP would've felt they were back in the game with 14 more to defend. A couple of dot balls seemed to create pressure, but Arun's descisive blow, a six over long off, made sure there would not be more drama. Ganesh finished things off in style to the delight of Spartans' players.

Spartans', a.k.a Dayton Blasters, have been one of the consistent teams in the history of LNCL. They've made it to the Semis almost every year. They'd be mighty pleased with their efforts this time around. TAP would be disappointed with the loss, and the manner, but they can be proud of their campaign this season.
