HCL 2020 - The First Edition by LCC

The first edition of Hopkinton Cricket League (HCL) T20 was conducted by Legacy Cricket Club (LCC) in FY2020.  LCC took a lot of precautions to ensure that the matches are conducted in an organized manner, following all guidelines as recommended by CDC to avoid spread of COVID-19 virus.  This is one of the first tournament where Neutral Umpires were provided by LCC for all matches of the tournaments.  12 Teams participated in the first edition and the first game started on Aug-15.  25 matches were conducted in all across 7 weekends and 3 venues.  Teams were divided into 3 groups as below:
Group A - Black Cats / Galaxy XI / Legends of Legacy / Ravishing Willows
Group B - Hoysala Raiders / Lowell Rockers / North Riders / SL Lions
Group C - Boston Blues / Legacy Panthers / Royals / Waltham XI
Each team played against other teams within their group in the league round.  Upon completion of the league round, 4 teams from the bottom were eliminated.  Top 8 teams of the league qualified for playoffs and played the 4 Quarter Finals knock-outs, followed by 2 Semifinal knock-outs and the Finals on Oct-4.
Black Cats, North Riders, Legacy Panthers and Hoysala Raiders were eliminated by the end of the League round.
Galaxy XI, Lowell Rockers, Ravishing Willows and SL Lions were eliminated in the Quarter Finals round.
Legends of Legacy and Boston Blues were eliminated in the Semi-Finals round
Royals & Waltham XI played the Finals on Oct-4, Royals prevailed over Waltham XI.  Interestingly, these two teams played the first match of the tournament on Aug-15, where Waltham XI won over the Royals.
Mr. Daniel Terry, the chair of Hopkinton Parks & Rec board, presented the awards to the Winners & Runners.
LCC board members presented the individual player awards below:
- The best batsman of the series was awarded to Prasad Prabhu of Boston Blues.  He scored 157 runs over 5 matches at an average of 39.3
- The best bowler of the series was awarded to Sudamsh Reddy of Royals.  He bowled 21.4 overs over 6 matches and took 16 wickets
- The best fielder of the series was awarded to Prabhat Singh of Royals.  He was involved in 25 dismissals in 6 matches - 23 catches and 2 runouts
- The player of the series was awarded to Akash Bogish for his allround performance with both bat and ball.  He was the second best batsman and fourth best bowler among the overall players.  He scored 126 runs in 4 innings at an average of 31.5 and bowled 15.5 overs in 5 matches and took 10 wickets
