CASFOS ASSAM has entered the Semifinals of JEEKIM CRICKET LEAGUE 2 of 2016-17 with a clinical run chase in their Quarter Finals against RENAULT GUWAHATI METROPOLITAN. Electing to bat first RGM faced some relentless bowling from CA. Mathang Dhamdere, Vishal Yadav and Jyoti Medhi took early wickets to reduce RGM to 19/4 in 4.1 overs. A 5th wicket partnership stand of 79 runs off 40 balls between Ujjal Dutta and Monojit Paul and a blistering knock of 23 runs off 9 balls by Raj Singh helped in checking the loss of wickets and post a respectable total of 139 runs in 15 overs. CA lost Vishal at the start of their chase. However, Dhaval Patel and Mathang took CA to a formidable position with their partnership of 63 runs off 39 balls. Raj Singh clean bowled Mathang to provide a much needed breakthrough for RGM. Khemraj Poudel came to the crease and made a quick fire 22 runs in 12 balls before getting run out to some brilliant fielding by Deepjyoti Das. Dhaval (retired hurt) and Deep Bonia got out cheaply at the 13th over. At this point, CA needed 33 runs in 12 balls to win with two new batsman, Priyank Patel and Jyoti Medhi at the crease. In the 14th over, Jyoti Medhi went on a rampage by hitting 24 runs from the over by Gourab Kalita. The 9 runs needed from the last over too was scored with 2 huge sixes to the on side. Jyoti's figures read 44 runs off 12 balls with 6 sixes and 1 four at the end of the match.
