Welcome to Cricket at KES

Welcome to Cricket at KES

The name King Edward VII School is synonymous with cricket in South Africa. Not only do our age group teams dominate the leagues that they participate in, but with a good balance of talent, coaching and dedication, our players manage to rise to the top of the South African cricket scene. Quinton de Kock, Stephan Cook, Dane Vilas, Neil McKenzie and ex-Proteas captain Graeme Smith all honed their skills at King Edward VII School.

King Edward VII School has been fortunate in having a number of our players selected to captain the SA u19 team in the past: Bryce Parsons (2019), Tony de Zorzi (2015), Yaseen Valli (2013), Shaylen Pillay (2012), Quinton de Kock (2012) and Keaton Jennings (2011). Jennings went on to play test cricket for England, scoring a century on debut.

Cricket is alive and well at KES and before Covid-19 visited our shores, we fielded 21 cricket teams across the board. During the last Johnny Waite knock-out competition that was run in 2020, we won three of the age groups; u15, u16 and Second Team, with our First Team losing in the final. Long may cricket continue on these hallowed grounds and the “howzats” echo in the afternoon setting sun!
