Sham''s five-fer steers CCCCR to top

Sham Murari''''s five punch paved way for CCCCR comfortable win against CRACA in Lance Binns League match 5, and secured their position as the top-ranked team.

Electing to bat, CRACA never managed to dominate in the game, starting from the 5th ball of the 5th over which resulted in Deepak?s dismissal by Mathew George. Aditya dismissed both Bharat and Sachin in his first spell and led the way for CRACA?s early collapse. Sachin (24) and Deepak (14) were top scorers and no resurrection came from any other player.

Sham, the medium-pacer dismissed  the next 4 batsmen and even accounted for the fifth wicket of Aarif Dar (4) to pave way for a collapse as CRACA folded for 89.

In response, CCCCR had little difficulty at the start with Deepak?s tight bowling. Even as opener Aditya (14) departed early in the 5th over, and Prajwel (5) who came one down in the 9th over of  Danush, Sumesh once again settled the chase for his team. The rest of the batsmen did not have to do much as CRACA paid heavily by conceding 26 extras, regrettably the top scorer of the match.
Sham had a double bonus with his man of the match award and Illingworth trophy for year 2018 for his performances and contribution.
Brief Scores: CRACA 89 in 17.2 overs (Sachin 24, Deepak 14; Sham 5-11, Aditya 2-21) lost to CCCCR 90/5 in 17.1 overs (Sumesh 21, Aditya 14; Dhanush 2-19) by 5 wickets.
