Bright sunny day and perfect weather for a great cricket and we all witnessed a Perfect game of cricket between Reforma and Aguilas on Sunday 12 November at The Reforma Athletic Club. Aguilas won the toss and elected to field. Reforma sent their new Opener Terry and Archit and though they started steadily but Terry has shown some illustrous drives and a shot over long off for Six, on the other hand Archit played a supportive role with a power packed Six over long on. Aguilas captain Shantanu brought his new debutant weapon CP and CP immediately got the break through and he got Terry caught behind on 25. Couple of wickets fell and then Dan arrived to crease and he scored at a fast pace. Reforma were really going good but Shantanu brought himself on and got the important wicket of Dan who scored 27 and that put breaks on the scoring because at one stage Reforma were 99/4 after 14 overs and 150 was on the cards. Although Ben Owen, Illich and Nithin chipped in with some runs but with some tight bowling from Shantanu and CP Aguilas managed to restrict Reforma for 133 in 20 overs which is still a good score on Reforma wicket. Then comes the Aguilas turn to chase this score and also entered the Star performer of the match Aravindan and Aguilas started off to a flyer. First ball of the Ramki Aravindan sent for a Six over point region and scored 15 runs in one over. Aravindan then managed another big over and scored 23 runs of Captain Nithin's over in which all witnessed some superb shots and a jaw dropping cover drive for a magnificent Six - clearly the Shot of the Day! Aguilas raised to 52/0 in just 5 overs and it was first 50 Runs partnership for any wicket of the season. Nithin brough on their ever reliable war horse Chris and boy he was charged up. He ran and bowled fast and got 2 wickets in his first over.That brought Shahzad on to the crease and Shahzad and Aravindan not only steadied the inning but also scored at fast pace. Shahzad also showed his class and hit 2 sixes both over long off. Aravindan brought his 50 in 10th over with a superb on drive. Nithin then brought Terry to bowl and he also bowled beautifully for Reforma and he put the breaks on by taking Shahzad wicket in his 2nd over but Aravindan on the other End continue to mesmerise audience with his shots and superb play and he finally fell to Terry on 78 of 53 balls (highest score of the season till date) in 17th over, but that gave Reforma a ray of hope and they started belive that they can still do something. Aguilas only needed 14 of last 3 overs an Shantanu and Abhijeet were batting, Sanjay bowled his last over heart out and bowled a peach of the delivery to Shantanu and bowled him and it was ball of the DAY! But still there were Adnan left to bat and abhijeet was holding the fort and 10 runs in 2 overs was easy and they took 7 of the penultimate over. Only 3 runs required of the last over and Nithin who had a bad day in the office bowled the over of his life and he bowled 4 dot balls in which he got Abhijeet bowled and Adnan was off strike all the time. He got the chance only to play the last ball when only 2 runs was required and Adnan could ony hit to as far as mid-wicket where Sanjay picked up very quickly and throw the ball to Nithin and he made Riasat RUNOUT. And we have the TIE. Everyone witnessed a great cricket match where cricket was the Winner! Aman Arora |
