Aztecs finish 2017 on a high

09 December, 2017Aztecs Vs Reforma, always full of events and excitement and this match has no exception. It is the Last(farewell) match for Chris Rodwell in Mexico City. Aztecs were at the bottom of the table and a win here would take them to top and make the league balanced. Match delayed a bit because of lot of Trafic in Mexico and players couldn't reach on time but Hats off to Reforma captain Nithin for showing the great spirit to take the fielding even they were told to bat first. Match was reduced to 18 overs. Well the match started with Matt Tyler and Suchit opening the innings and Chris is all fired up to perform in his last match. No better sight than an Aussie fired up to bowl to a English Player amidst all ASHES saga. Matt & Suchit gave Aztecs a fast start which is unlike their previous three matches, and once Suchit got out on 15, it brings Seetha on to the crease and Matt and Seetha built a good partnership of 25 runs and the Left and Right hand combination worked well. But both Matt(20) and Seetha(12) got out on 40 and 41 respectively leaving Aztecs captain Aman and Anurag to do the repair work, but both batted well and added 36 runs for the 4th wicket that too more than run a ball. Aman ran himself out on 23 and Anurag got out on 18 to a brilliant catch from Nithin, sky-high & running backwards. Aztecs fininshed the innings well with Mike Linnecar hit crucial 11 runs in the last over and Aztecs finished the innings at 115/8. Nithin also bowled very well and took 2 wickets for 15 runs .

In response, Reforma started well with Chris and Archit, Particularly Chris was hititng the ball well and scored run a ball and they had 31 run parnership before Harprit came and got 2 wickets in 2 balls and remove both the openers (Chris - 16, Archit - 11) and brought Aztecs back into the game. After this there are no significant partnerships but there were useful partnerships between Nithin and Daniel and Nithin and Sanjay and the later was more dangerous one as they scored 18 runs in 10 balls including a beautifully timed Six by Nithin over long off and 2 consecutive fours from Sanjay and they were looking to took the game away from Aztecs but Mike Lineccar has bowled one of his best on this day and had the wickets of all three of them which actually sealed the game for Aztecs as Reforma needed 21 of last 6 balls. Nithin was the highest scorer for Reforma with 22 runs. Mike fininshed with 3 for 15 and Harprit again finished with 4 for 26. Two consecutive 4 wickets hall for him. Aztecs really bowled well and never let reforma off the hook. Mike Lineccar was MoM for his allround performance. Aztecs became Table Toppers for one day!
