SEMI-FINAL 1: COLONIALS V SILVER STARSThis was a much awaited match between 2 in-form teams of MCL so far. Both Colonials and Silver Stars had won all 3 matches each in the league rounds and stage was set for a knock out battle between them. Big matches always come with an added pressure and mostly teams which handle pressure well come out on top from them. On this day Colonials were that team and they convincigly defeated Silver Stars and reached the grand finale to be played on Sep 24th.Colonials have always played to plan and again after winning the toss they batted first. The start was not so good and both openers were back in pavilion by score of 24. In came one of the batting star of the MCL so far Dhruv Arora and continued his great batting form .which has bailed Colonials a few times now. He was ably supported by captain Gursimarn and both of them had a very good partnership of 48 runs. Silver Stars were too generous in extras and gave away 15 wides. Vinod from Silver Stars was stand out bowler and took 4 wickets but there was not enough support from rest of the bowlers and finally Colonials ended up with a good score of 85 which in a big pressure match was always going to be challenging. Silver Stars had a poor start with 2 wickets falling for just 7. Sunny played a good knock pof 35 not out but Stars were never in hunt and regular wickets pegged them back all the time . All the 4 Colonial bowlers bowled well with Dhruv again coming to party with 3 wickets and well backed by Vikram with 2 wickets. It was a real match winning performance from Dhruv which brought him to the top of Batters as well as MVP for MCL so far. All eyes will be on the 2nd Semi finals on thrusday with 2 highly compeitieve teams Bakers and Rainiers.locking horns. Lets see who comes out of them to stop the Colonials Juggernaut in MCL. |
