SEMI-FINAL 2: BAKERS V RAINIERSIf there was ever a cricket match (be it at any level) which symbolises the real spirit of cricket and can act as advertisement for its uncertainities and unpredictability, Semi final 2 will fulfill that. A match which had everything a cricket match can offer - good and bad cricketing skills, one sided nature of the proceedings , excitement which keeps you on the edge of the seats , grit, determination, failure, dejection , all could be found in this match at some point or the other. Match which meandered like a quiet summer river turned into a gorge in a matter of seconds.Nothing went right for Bakers batting first and with combination of poor batting and some spot on bowling from Rainiers (Deepesh, Phaneedra -3 wickets each), they trudged to a disappointing score of 52 . This was suppose to a one -sided affair seeing the score and it went on the similar script courtesy very good 3rd wicket partnership of 42 b/w Ajit(24) and Sharath(17) after the initial burst from KKN which took both openers quickly.Then suddenly the whole complexion of the match changed. Ajit was out in 14th over with just 1 needed to win and Kasi 15th over was the stuff you hardly see in a cricket match easily. figures read - W W W . W . .From a one side drubbing it changed into a edge of the seat thriller. It was chaotic with emotions and temper flowing all around. Finally Maheswar who has been having a great tournament brought his midas touch and hit the winning runs for Rainiers. Rainiers goes to finals to meet Colonials but Bakers can keep their head high with the fight they put up with that score. This match will be remembered and talked about in MCL history always.
