Women Risers - a Journey of dreaming and fulfilling it.

Having watched the entire Journey of Women Risers team so closely since the MHCC board announced the tournament until the Team lifted(about to) the cup… fantastic Journey and Nothing less than a magic. I still can’t believe it is true.

Although there was a lot of interest in forming the team, there were some events to attend, people had a lot of dilemma whether to form a team or not, but eventually the team was registered,  searching for interested  people who want to be part of this fun-filled journey.  Few people have joined a few of them left but eventually ended up with a set of people who were sharing the same passion.

When the team was formed and started playing practice matches, we got to understand the team better. Lot of people were holding the bat for the first time, some of them even could not  throw the ball properly and forget about catching it. Yet they all dreamed of winning the matches and lifting the cup together.   Every single member of the team was so committed to the dream and practised daily 2-3 hours.  When people are so committed,  one can not stop supporting and in no time enough people have supported them guiding and coaching.  In no time a friend was able to get the sponsor, and got the jerseys  ready.  Lot of them were playing for the first time a game like this and wearing jerseys this itself was like a moment to cherish. One can imagine a photo session and how long it can go :-)

At one point of time a lot of us who were supporting the team were even worried how they would be disappointed if they can’t  win  the Trophy. But they never stopped believing in themselves and never stopped practising.  They were playing practice matches against other teams who were available and started winning matches and gaining experience so is the confidence. One after another they kept on winning matches. They played about five practice matches and won all of them.  These matches helped them understand each other and their strengths.  No matter what the practice did not stop, the amount of time they spent has only gone higher.

Situation was like, day before actual match they want to take rest but when one person shows the interest to practice we end up seeing entire team at the ground. With enough confidence from the practice matches, they started league matches and won  2 of them at Pool level.

Pool A Game 1: Vs Avengers
Good batting, posted a very good total on the board, followed with excellent bowling performance.

Pool A Game 2: Vs She Devils
Excellent bowling again, restricted to good score and chased it comfortably.

Strong performances in pool level games grew their confidence and believed themselves that they could play well, fight against any team and win the trophy.

Sem Final: Vs She Devils
Decent bowling, fielding was put under pressure. Good start in the chase, struggled a bit and finished with strong batting towards the end.

Finals: Vs Resistance
Good bowling to take out the important wickets, continued the pressure. Restricted to a decent score. Cautious start into the chase, calculated risks chasing and crossed the line comfortably.

Women Risers.. Here they are .. Winning one match at a time, learning something from every game, gaining experience, increasing confidence and enjoying every bit of it. Team reached the finals, fought very well, took the game to deep,  crossed the line and today they are standing on the winning side.

Excellent journey from beginning to the end, enjoyed every bit of it and a Journey  to cherish for their life. This journey  has made more friends and united new families.

This journey is so special because when women are playing, the entire family is part of it :-) A wonderful journey on behalf of Mother’s day.. A true gift from MHCC for facilitating this. Thank you MHCC Board, Volunteers and every one part of this..
