MALAYSIA RARING TO GO - NEPAL TRI SERIES 2022

Malaysia is honoured to be invited to play in the Nepal Tri-Series which will be held from 28 March – 4 April 2022 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, Nepal.
Currently ranked 33 in the world in  T20 ICC ranking, Malaysia has been training hard in preparation to meet with cricket nations Nepal, ranked 13 and Papua New Guinea (PNG) ranked 19.

There is a change of wind in this Tri-Series, as it will showcase players that are ethic to the participating countries. Malaysian Cricket views this as a step in the right direction, as this wholesome approach will encourage participation from more ethnic players and promote cricket around the globe.

Captain of the Malaysian squad, Ahmad Faiz feels the team has prepared well and all players are eagerly waiting to face Nepal and PNG. We look forward to carrying the Championship Cup back to Malaysia. He called on Malaysia to support the team’s participation in this Tri-Series.

Malaysia’s Head Coach Bilal Asad said that “the team en route to Nepal comprises of senior players as well as new young faces”. The young blood he opined has “brought about newfound vigour to the existing team”. He added, “This has created a sense of hunger for success and we believe now the sky is the limit for us. The team philosophy for this Tri-Series he added is simple, To Win It, We Believe, We Achieve”.

On that note, MCA President Mohammed Iqbal Ali, added that the highlight of the Tri-Series, essentially for Malaysia, will be the Live-telecast on ASTRO Arena, Channel 802.  This is the first time a TRI SERIES is being telecast live. It will give more Malaysians and non- Malaysians residing in Malaysia a chance to watch the matches. Malaysian Cricket he added is truly appreciative of ASTRO for covering this Tri-Series and we look forward to having such support for future matches.

Following the Tri-Series in Nepal will be the inaugural T20 club cricket tournament- PRO CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP which will be held in Bhairahawa, Nepal from 8th – 16th April 2022.  This tournament will see a mix of International and Domestic clubs. Premier clubs of Nepal, India, Bangladesh.
