MEDIA RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Without Prejudice)

Kinrara Oval; 6 April 2022

Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) refers to Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN) media statement on 6 April 2022 alleging that MCA has not made payment toward the joint cost of the initial construction of Kinrara Oval.

MCA wishes to place on record that all payments towards the joint cost of the initial construction of Kinrara Oval were made to Perumahan Kinrara Berhad  (PKB) and hereby deny this statement made by MSN.

We wish to bring to light that on 15 Feb 2019, a media statement from the then Minister of  Youth and Sports, YB Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman stated that Malaysian Cricket can remain at Kinrara Oval until such time when a meeting is held between PKB, KBS and MCA to sought an amicable resolute to this matter. This meeting did not materialize to date.

MCA has subsequently initiated several correspondences, to KBS and the Prime Minister’s office as well as the present Minister of Youth & Sports. MCA is therefore surprised to learn that MSN is not aware of these correspondences.

MSN stated that Multimedia University  (MMU) has agreed to offer their field in Cyberjaya to be set up as the new training centre, however, MCA is yet to receive an official letter nor a proposal on this matter todate.
