Nik Atiela’s spell of 3-9, which included the wicket of Nepal captain Rubina Chhetry helped Malaysia bowl Nepal out for 50 before their batters sealed the chase with 6.4 overs and five wickets to spare. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Malaysia dominated the opening exchanges. Aisya Eleesa started things off by getting Sita Rana Magar caught behind for a golden duck. Kajal Shrestha then lobbed an easy catch to skipper Mas Elysa before Eleesa bowled Indu Barma with a ball that moved sharply into the right-hander. Jyoti Pandey and Samjhana Khadka put on a 29-run stand before Atiela had Pandey caught by Arianna Natasya in the circle to reduce Nepal to 41 for four in the ninth over. Chhetry was Atiela’s next victim after Aina Najwa dived to her right to take an acrobatic catch. Atiela and Najwa would combine once again in a near action replay, this time for the wicket of Apsari Begum. As things turned out, Nepal lost their last seven wickets for just nine runs to get bowled out for 50 with a ball to spare in the 17th over. Chasing 51 for victory, Winifred Duraisingam was caught at first slip for a duck in the first over, attempting a cover drive to a Kabita Kunwar outswinger. Wan Julia injected some momentum into Malaysia’s innings by pulling Ashmina Karmacharya away for four before glancing her down to the fine leg rope. Chhetry pulled one back for the tourists after Christina Baret hit her straight to Indu Barma at mid wicket. Following a quiet period of play, Sita Rana Magar trapped Wan Julia in front and took a diving catch to dismiss Mahirah for a golden duck. Chhetry struck off the very next delivery trapping Mas Elysa in front to leave Malaysia in a spot of bother at 30 for five in the ninth over. This, however, would prove to be a mere hiccup for Malaysia. Ainna Hamizah drove Kritika Marasini down the ground for four and followed it up by slapping Barma through covers to seal a comfortable win for the hosts.
