MCA & KTJ TO BUILD CRICKET ON THE FOUNDATION OF A HOLISTIC APPROACH |

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Malaysian Cricket Association and Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ) reputed as one of country’s most premier schools’ The MOU was embarked upon to further strengthen ties between MCA and KTJ, thus, champion the sport of cricket which is already a part of Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar’s curriculum. As the national governing body for Cricket, Malaysian Cricket Association is intent on ensuring that cricket reaches the pinnacle of sporting achievement in the country. Towards this end, MCA will ensure that KTJ Oval is developed into a national and international venue with a turf wicket block complete with upgraded facilities. With this MOU, MCA affirms the development of a strong presence for state and national level tournaments, ultimately, producing national players. Dr. Glenn Moodie, Principal of KTJ, said “Cricket has always played an important part in the life of KTJ, as a sport which is dearly loved by our founding Trustees. We have worked in partnership for a number of years with the MCA and we are delighted with this new agreement, which strengthens our relationship further. This partnership will benefit KTJ students, ensuring that our cricketers benefit from first-class coaching and are exposed to cricket played at the highest level.” Commenting on the MOU, Mr. Mahinda Vallipuram, President of the Malaysian Cricket Association stated “It is indeed an honour for MCA to join forces with KTJ for the development of cricket. This MOU, is passage to another oval that can be used by State Cricket Associations not only as a practice venue, but, to host tournaments as well.” Mahinda added that “Having good ovals with natural turf blocks is important to the development of the game and we are excited that KTJ will now be much a part of MCA’s journey in achieving the long term objectives set out for the sport. We believe that we will be seeing more national and international matches being played here as well.” “We at MCA are certainly committed towards putting in place enhanced infrastructures and building on a syllabus that will essentially create a new breed of cricketers to be the pride of the nation.
