At Cricket Malaysia, our focus spans beyond the medal and podium albeit that being the overall objective, there is constant thought given to what’s next, what comes after cricket for our players. We are very much mindful that our cricketers need a future be it in the sport itself or in another profession that will see them contribute back to society. With this in mind, Cricket Malaysia gives equal importance to the primary ticket for a stable future- Education. Cricket and education, the almost perfect combination to success for any young man or woman willing to work for it. Asia Pacific University (APU) is a long-time education partner of Cricket Malaysia and we take pride in knowing that together, we have sent out many graduates from the cricket pool of talent thereby opening up a world of opportunities for these young men and women. This year, in addition to the existing eight cricket scholars already at APU, four more cricket talents have been awarded full scholarships at Asia Pacific University. Vijay Unni a/l Suresh, Mohammad Afiq Syakir Bin Shahruddin, Mohamad Asyraf Azmi Bin Mohamed Aslam, Danushri a/p Sri Muhunan are the new recipients. “As a sports body that advocates education, we can’t iterate enough the value of sound education said President of Cricket Malaysia, Mohammed Iqbal Ali Kassim Ali. We acknowledge APU’s contribution which solidifies Cricket Malaysia’s stance of sport and education integrating as one. APU’s support enables Cricket Malaysia to stand tall knowing that its players are given a wholesome formation that will lead them to break the glass ceiling” Cricket Malaysia is truly appreciative of APU’s support as a long -term education partner and we are sure that this collaboration will continue for years to come, where together we will see our young stars rise and contribute back to their families, their communities and the nation as we afford them the greatest asset of all. |
