FIVE TEAMS VIE FOR ONE SPOT AT THE ICC COMMONWEALTH GAMES QUALIFIER 2022

Kuala Lumpur January 2022-  Kinrara Oval, Home of Cricket Malaysia, from 16th January to 25th January, five teams will vie for one spot at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the Women’s T20 series scheduled to be held in Birmingham in August of this year.
 
Cricket Malaysia is immensely elated to play host to four international teams namely Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Scotland, and Kenya who have are already begun arriving in to Malaysia.
This qualifier will be held under a strict bio security bubble which will include the Malaysian national women’s team as well.
 
President of Cricket Malaysia Iqbal Ali, expressed his gratitude to the government agencies namely the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Health, the Malaysian Immigration, the Sports Commissioner’s Office, NADMA and Majlis Sukan Negara (National Sports Council) for their support and guidance. “With the guidance of the government agencies, Cricket Malaysia was able to put in place all procedures needed to ensure a smooth arrival and stay in Malaysia for our international contingent.”
 
Notwithstanding the strict bio security in place, Cricket Malaysia sees being able to host the Women’s T20 qualifiers as an honour after the Covid 19 pandemic forced a two -year hiatus on all sporting events” said Dinesh Muthuraman COO of Cricket Malaysia. He added that “Cricket Malaysia will  remain vigilant and compliant to with the Bio Security Measures while simultaneously extending Malaysian hospitality to our international friends”.
 
In line with this, the Malaysian Women’s team have also been training hard and whilst we welcome the international contingent to our shores, we wish them all the best of luck as the put their best foot forward with the sight of qualifying for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
