Off recent times, there is much talk about gender equality, in fact the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #BreakTheBias which then begets the question of how many industries, sports included, practice what is preached.

The FairBreak Invitational T20 has risen to the occasion with the first of its kind in the world to showcase a global movement in this tournament. This is the first time six franchise teams comprising of players from 36 countries will be playing in this ICC sanctioned tournament from 1 May to 15 May 2022 in Dubai in conjunction with Hong Kong Cricket.

Malaysian Cricket shares in the joy of Winifred Duraisingam, captain of the Malaysian Women’s team for having been invited to participate in this auspicious tournament.
The biggest names in global cricket will come together for a two-week tournament featuring stars of the sport from over 30 countries.

Winifred expressed her gratitude to FairBreak for organising and inviting her to participate in this inaugural first-of-a-kind tournament. “Although I did not have any inclination about this tournament, I always believe in myself and the skills I possess.
That said, I would not have come this far if not for my late uncle who introduced the sport to me and my love for cricket grew from there.  I am especially grateful to MCA, my team and coaches without whom I could not have grown in confidence and I thank them for supporting me and enabling me to better my game and reach this far.”

This world’s first-of-a-kind tournament will feature well-known favorites, such as Sana Mir, Diana Baig, Fatima Sana and Aliya Raza. Malaysian Cricket Association believes this tournament will be an immense opportunity for Winifred to grow in all aspects of her game.
