Tournament Rules

COVID Precautions	It is the responsibility of the Team Captain to ensure that all members of his team are in good health and that they do not have any COVID Symptoms. If a player is having a cough/cold/fever, please do not bring the player for the game to ensure the safety of the rest of the group. Teams not adhering to safety practices and continuously bringing in players who are sick might be disqualified at the discretion of the organizing committee.
Players Conduct	Sledging of any kind and level is NOT PERMITTED. If an incident occurs, then both the captains along with umpires need to be involved in resolving it in a friendly manner. If the incident continues even after warning once, the impacted team’s captain has the right to walk off from the game and points will be awarded to the impacted team. Determination of the impacted team is made by the common umpires or if required by the management. A player can represent only one team throughout the course of this tournament. Team Captain will be held responsible for the entire team and its actions, any act of unreasonable behavior or use of foul language against the opponents or umpires will cause disqualification of a player/team as decided by the management. Sledging at the umpires will not be tolerated at any expense.  Any kind of region/language/religion/nationality-based slurs will deem a Team AND/OR Individual disqualified with immediate effect. Every Player participating in the tournament must be able to verify their identity when requested during a game using Profile Pic/Valid Email/Phone Number. The management requires the players to update their profile in CricClubs app/website with Valid Information to enable identity verification.
Timings/Schedules	If a match is scheduled to start at say 8:00 AM but it is delayed due to a lack of at least 8 players (applicable for both batting and bowling teams) present on the ground, then the grace period is provided till 8:15 with no penalty. Even after 8:15 if a minimum of 8 players are not present, then the respective team is penalized 2 overs from their batting. Though 2 overs are penalized NRR will be calculated based on 20 overs only. Beyond 8:30 match points will be awarded to the team present with at least 8 players and the NRR of the team present will be increased to reflect a winning margin of 25 runs. Players who are late and arrive after the completion of the 10th over of the first innings will not be able to participate unless agreed by the opponent captain. If a match cannot be started within the first 30 mins of the scheduled play (in this case 8:30) due to the minimum number of players not available from both the teams, then the match is considered cancelled with 0 points for both the teams. It is the duty of captain(s) or umpires to update this situation to the management.
Weather	In case of the Temperature being less than 50 degrees at the time of scheduled start and the weather prediction doesn’t show that it increases with time, unless and until both teams want to play, the game will not start. The umpires can decide to wait up to 3 hours to start the game after which the game will be abandoned with points equally shared. In case of pitch being wet and when both teams are not able to agree upon a decision, Umpires will decide if the game can be played or not. In all situations including bad weather or wet outfield, captains and umpires need to be at the ground to make the decision to Play OR not Play at the venue of the game unless all parties (both captains and umpires) agree to make the decision before going to the venue. We Encourage teams to genuinely try and play every game at any given opportunity.
Rescheduling of Games	League games will be resumed/rescheduled for weather conditions or wet outfield as per the below guidance: If a match cannot be started at the Original Scheduled time, the teams have up to 3 hours from the Original Scheduled time to start the game. In case the weather doesn’t improve or the ground is still deemed unplayable after 3 hours, points will be shared between the 2 teams with no NRR impact.  In case of a match being stopped due to bad weather AFTER the completion of 10 overs of the second innings and the match cannot be resumed within the next 3 hours, Duckworth Lewis will be used to determine the winner. Umpires are required to stay the additional 3 hours to ensure that the game can be completed. Failing to comply will attract an umpiring penalty as described in the “Common Umpire” section below. If both captains agree to reschedule/resume the game outside of the 3-hour window (within the same day), the game can be played. It's the responsibility of the playing captains to arrange for umpiring such games. Rescheduling of knockout games will be decided by the Management.
Common Umpires	Common umpires are scheduled for all the games. Umpires cannot be from the same group as the playing teams. Each team is expected to officiate up to 5 games in the entire tournament. Both the umpires will be from the same team. Umpires being late by more than 15 mins of official start time of the game will result in reduction of 1 point for the team which the umpire represents. It is the collective responsibility of Captains from both the teams to communicate about this to the management. A team that is scheduled for umpiring but is unavailable to officiate should inform the organizers before Monday End of Day of that week and must pay $75 for each substitute umpire. Teams that fail to show up for umpiring will result in an automatic walkover of their next game and a fine of $200 which must be paid before their next game. In case of no future games in the current tournament, the team may not be included in the next tournament. This 200$ will be added to the League buffer amount. Note: In case of umpires not showing up after 15 mins of the scheduled start time, teams are expected to start the game by having their own umpires officiating the game, until the neutral umpires arrive for the game. It is the responsibility of the umpiring team to pay the substitute umpires. Even if one umpire is available and the other one is not available then still it is considered as late and will attract a demerit point. Every team is required to do up to 5 umpiring duties. Teams will do umpiring duty for 4 games during the league phase and 1 umpiring during the playoffs.
Decisions	Umpires’ decisions are final, it cannot be overruled. Having said that, all players are expected to play this tournament with utmost dignity for its success and future endeavors. In case of a catch being claimed on a boundary line or in case of determining a 4 or a 6. It will alays be UMPIRE'S CALL, umpries can take help from fielders to make that decision, But the umpires are empowered to make the final decision. If a bowler’s action is suspected to be chucking, then the batsmen must walk off without attempting to play the delivery and the delivery will be declared as dead ball. The bowler will be monitored both by the umpires and batsmen for further deliveries and any instance of chucking after warning will result in the bowler losing the eligibility to bowl again in that innings.
Fielding Rules	The first 6 overs of an innings will be the Power play where only 2 fielders are allowed outside the inner circle. Throughout the 20 overs at least 4 fielders must be present in the inner circle On the Leg side of batsmen there cannot be more than 5 fielders excluding the bowler. Bowler is not counted as a fielder. Leg byes are not accounted for and hence the batsmen cannot be declared out for attempting to score a run during a leg bye. Whereas stumping is considered out. Byes and overthrows are accounted for. Fielder substitution during the game must be informed to the umpire failing which the next ball will be a No ball. Fielders (barring the keeper) cannot wear any kind of gloves during the time they field. Tapes or bandages are allowed.
Bowling Rules	Maximum of 4 overs are allowed per bowler per innings. Any No ball constitutes a free hit. A ball can be declared as No ball if: The bowler oversteps the bowling crease. Bowler hits the bowling stumps before delivery. Full ball above the waist. Third bounce over the Shoulder. Field restriction not followed. In the event of a bowler bowling more than two deliveries in an over which is above the shoulder of the batsman, the umpire shall call and signal No ball on each occasion. If the ball is over the head of the batsman, the umpire shall signal it a WIDE provided the batsman has not contacted the ball and it will be considered as one warning for the over. If the batsman makes contact with a ball which is over his head and it is the first ball over the shoulder in that over, the ball will be deemed legal, and it will constitute as first warning for the over. Any full toss ball above the waist of the batsmen in his normal stance is considered as Beamer. For the first instance of such a delivery, it is declared as No ball with free hit. If a bowler bowls third beamer in a match, then he is terminated from bowling further in that match. The ICC rule for wide balls is adopted in this tournament. To highlight core rule, on a normal stance if the batsmen is unable to reach the ball it is declared as wide. Whereas if the batsmen moved towards his offside then the pre marked wide line is immaterial and it is judged wide depending on the batsmen's new position. In case of switch hit or reverse sweep, then both of his side is considered offside for judging the wide. Bowlers are NOT expected to declare guard, unless requested by the umpire/Batsmen. If a ball bounces more than once before the batting crease, it will be declared a dead ball. A bowler, who bowled a No Ball cannot be taken out and replaced by a new bowler to bowl the free hit. A batsman being bowled on a Free Hit does not make the ball a dead ball right away, The batsman can run until the fielder tries to run out or if the ball is declared dead by the umpire. When playing on Mat, A ball that hits the edge of the mat and goes outside the reach of the batsman will be declared a dead ball and not be deemed a wide or a no ball.
Substitutes	This tournament allows Super-Substitute under the below guidelines The 12th player identified as super substitute must be declared before bowling the first ball of the match by both the teams. The super substitute can either bowl or bat but not both. If a super substitute bats, then one among the 11 players loses the eligibility to bat in that innings. A total of 15 players can play for a team in a game which includes 11 players, 1 Super substitute and 3 substitute fielders. It is the responsibility of the opponent captain to be aware of opponents playing 11 and substitutes for the game. A substitute cannot bowl or bat or captain the game. But can perform fielding and wicket keeping.
Roster & Player Identity Verification	A team can have a maximum squad of 25 players, the team roster will be locked on May 14, 2023 (after 3 weeks). Teams cannot have Substitutes in the roster and cannot include players who are not there in the team roster. Teams ignoring this rule will be disqualified and the opponent will be awarded the game.  A player who played at least 1 game in the tournament, cannot be removed from the roster, teams will be able to add players or remove players until May 14, 2023. A player CANNOT be directly introduced into the tournament playoff stage, he will need to play minimum 2 league games before playoff.   Management requires players to have their actual names (First AND/OR Last Name) in the profiles to enable identity verification. Complete Alias names are not allowed. Player’s profile needs to have a Profile Picture/valid email ID/ Phone Number to help Identity verification. This will enable easier verification of players identity if needed. If at any time a player's identity needs to be verified, then the captain (no other players) should approach only the umpire who in turn will reach out to the other captain to get it verified. A player’s identity can be verified using social media profile pictures, Driving license, Email ID, Phone Number etc.
Others	A batsman who retired due to illness or injury can resume his innings after the fall of a wicket. Whereas if the batsman retires for any other reasons, he can resume his innings only if the opponent captain agrees to it. A player can request for Bi runner only if he is injured. But it needs approval from the opposition captain & Umpire. Typically, management recommends captains to approve bi runners. Each team is expected to bring their own set of inner cones, outer cones, stumps, bats and keeping gloves. Each team needs to bring their own Red ball for their bowling innings. Each innings is expected to make use of 1 new ball. In case of ball being lost, either a similar old ball or new balls can be used with the collective consent of both the captains Carbon Fiber bat and bats which are wider than the Standard normal bats cannot be used in this Tournament. A team will be penalized 200$ if they give a walkover. A team that gives a second walkover will be eliminated from the tournament and will not be considered for future tournaments. The Team that gets the walkover will be awarded the game and hence will be given 2 points. In addition, the team will also be given a bonus score of 25 runs  to aid with the run rate potentially lost due to the walkover. In lieu of following the new ICC rule, The New batsman will always take the strike irrespective of the batsman crossing ends when a wicket falls. In the case of a runout, the new batsman will take the end where the dismissal happened. In the event of wicket falling off the last ball, The new batsman will take strike for the first ball of the next over. If the non-striker is out of his/her ground at any time from the moment the ball comes into play until the instant when the bowler would normally have been expected to release the ball, the non-striker is liable to be Run out. If the bowler completes the action but has not released the ball, the non striker cannot be declared run out if he is outside the crease at that instant.
Formats and Points	8 teams are participating in this tournament. Each team will play 7 league games with only 1 game per team per weekend. Each win will award the winning team 2 points and the losing team zero points. A Tie will result in 1 Point. The top 4 teams will qualify to the next stage. The top 4 is determined based on the total points. If two teams are tied in terms of the points achieved, then the ranking is determined based on the net run rate. Logic for calculating NRR can be referred to in this Section. If the Points and NRR are same, then the winner of two teams during the league stage will be considered for the next round. If any game ends in a tie, then a super over will be conducted to determine the winners. If the super over resulted in a tie, then another Super over will be conducted to decide on the winner. This will continue till a result can be obtained.
Compensation and Acknowledgments	Winners and Runner up trophies are rotational ( Winning and Runnerup team will keep the trophies for two weeks and return for the next season tounament). Winning team will be awarded with $600 prize money and Runner-up team with $400 prize money (Prize money will be in the form of giftcard, any giftcard processing fee wi[ll be deducted from the prize money ) Leading run scorer and leading wicket taker will be recognized with a memento. Man of the Match (MVP) for each game will be calculated automatically by CricClubs App. Man of the Match will be awarded for each game. The Award will be given by the Umpires to the Player with Highest points for the game as per CricClubs app.  A sum of 250$ is collected as Tournament fee from each team which includes the expenses for balls, Markers, trophies, awards, prize money and some buffer.
Scoring and Data Maintenance	CricClubs App is Mandatory for scoring purposes. The Scoresheet must be validated by the captains and submitted to the management in a timely manner (within a 24 hours’ period) for proper data collection and presentation.
Pitch Distance	The distance between wicket to wicket is 22 yards/20.12 m.
Wide Measurement	Wide line will be measured at 1 Bat from the Off Stump.
Ground Dimensions	The boundary dimensions will have to be a minimim of 135 feet and a maximum of 150 feet from the center of the pitch. An optimum boundary dimension needs to be agreed upon by the playing teams within the range given above for every game in the entire tournament.

Net Run Rate Calculation Process:
South Africa had scored, so far in the tournament:

• Against India, 254 runs (for 6 wkts) from 47.2 overs
• Against Sri Lanka, 199 runs (for 9 wkts) from 50 overs
• Against England, 225 runs (for 7 wkts) from 50 overs

 
Across the three games, South Africa scored 678 runs in a total of 147 overs and 2 balls (actually 147.333 overs), a rate of 678/147.333 or 4.602 rpo.
AGAINST
Teams opposing South Africa scored:

• India, 253 (for 5 wkts) from 50 overs.
• Sri Lanka, 110 all out from 35.2 overs.
• England, 103 all out from 41 overs.

In the case of Sri Lanka and England, because they were all out before their allotted 50 overs expired, the run rate is calculated as if they had scored their runs over the full 50 overs.
Therefore, the run-rate scored against South Africa across the first three games is calculated on the basis of 466 runs in a total of 50 + 50 + 50 = 150 overs, a rate of 466/150 or 3.107 rpo.
