Phoenix tie with IT in an OPL thriller

A huge final-ball six from Deepak Negi level scores in a thrilling opening OPL match at HMT Ground, Pinjore.

 
The inauguration contest of OPL could not have been much more thrilling than this match.

Phoenix's Deepak Negi smashed the last ball of the match for six to earn his team dramatic ties with IT in the first league match of OPL.

The warriors, chasing 104 for victory, had an early blow as Sushant got out for duck, before Sunny Dhiman made 25 and Sahil 31 not out to give Phoenix a chance of winning the game on Saturday.

They needed 7 off the last three balls and missed the first 2 balls. The Crowd was on their feet for the last delivery of Rohit. Negibhai hit a long six over the long-on to tie the match.
"It was nice to get that one out. Sunny and Sahil put us in a great position and we were backing ourselves to take it as deep as possible," Archit told the media.

"It just shows the depth we have got. It's good for the team - you know you can carry on all the way through an innings." – Pardeep Tiwari.

IT, put into bat, was indebted to a good innings of 33 by their ex-captain.

Mukesh also struck a quick-fire 42 off 29 deliveries, including one six and two fours.

Phoenix collapsed at the start of their reply, losing Sushant and Archit with only 20 runs on the board.

Vice-Captain Sahil steadied the ship with 31 but his team was still in deep trouble when Deepak Negi comes in.

They added 46 for the fourth wicket and Deepak Negi’s unbeaten 32 off 16 deliveries carried Phoenix warriors to only their first tie in three OPL’s.

Vice Captain Sahil Bhai Bagging the Man of the Match Award with an unbeaten 31 off 31 balls.

Fact Check: OPL season-1 also had a Tie between two Teams Spartans vs. Strykers. & the match date was also 28th, and in the same match Sunny bhai and Sahil Bhai were members of Spartans team.
