OCEANEERING PREMIER LEAGUE 2018 !!

The Pre-OPL events continue to celebrate, engage, entertain ODC players. The grand preparations for the festival of cricket have started before the festival of lights, Diwali. Every individual has something to show and discuss cricket nowadays. The synergy of thoughts from both, old and new players direct towards only one target, Winning the OPL 2018.

The event will start from 6th October 2018  at the same venue of HMT, Pinjore ground. This Event is one of a kind, platform to unite Oceaneers through the medium of the most popular Sport in India, Cricket. A total of 16 teams will be battling it out for the cup including 2 girls team. Same like last year, a cricket match among the mighty ladies of Oceaneering office will also feature.

In its 4th season, following 16 teams will be competing for the prestigious OPL cup:

This time OPL is seeing enthusiastic participation than ever before (200 players). All the teams had started practising for the last few months. The 14 men's teams have been divided among two groups namely Groups A and B. Strategies are being discussed almost daily and respective teams are trying every bit to strengthen their fort.



The defending champion " Ocean XI " will again try to defend the cup. A little bit of data analysis shows that their team is a mixed bag of performing players, rather than being a team of few match-winners. Having All rounder like John, Vipul, Anuj, Ravi its difficult to beat them. With addition of new promising players they will set the goal high this time. While availability of Mahesh for the tournament is still in confusion due to an injury was make a damage to their batting prowess.


One of the very consistent team and last year's semifinalist "Strykers" will play to live up to its reputation. In the tournaments they are the best in class. They are the most ones whose battling bowling fielding will be never comparable with others. Team was also most consistent with their performances throughout all the 3 previous seasons.  Having All rounder like Kashish, Jaid, Saurabh its difficult to beat them. While addition of few good players has to add some value to the teams. Unavailability of Pardeep, Aman, Sandeep, Ripan and Pravesh would be big blow to their success rate. Have to wait and watch what's behind the scene.

Team was also most consistent with their performances throughout all the 3 previous seasons and last year's finalist "IT Challengers". But they are known to be the chokers of OPL as they crumble in the last minute just before the win. With the transfer of many players to other team, IT will be heavily depend upon Rohit, Pawan, Mukesh and Naveen to full fill their dreams of having the OPL trophy in their hand.

Gaining from the lesson learnt in last year, "Phoenix Warriors" made the best team out of all. The team looks quite balanced after the inclusion of match-winners like Ankit. As I said entry of Ankit, Saurabhjeet and Harvinder will give them an extra edge in this year's OPL. While captain Sunny's  bat shining like a sword, Deepak Negi's fierce bowling will be a spectacular to watch. Phoenix warriors are the ones to watch out for this OPL as they will not left behind this time. Phoenix is the best team on paper now and Let's watch how they will execute.

"Finance United" have already display a lot in the last season. With teams few promising players left this season, have to see how team will cope with the situation. May with the change of captainship from Mohan to Bhuvan may some new idea or fresh air will help them to do some major setbacks. They will look to lift the trophy this time.

Spartans XI were in a ruin after their players left to join other team. But in history of cricket there are always chances of major setbacks. So no one knows whats behind the curtain of OPL 2018. The new additions to the OPL family are "Team Fusion", "Blue Panther", "Crusaders", "Ocean Bulls" and "Chandigarh Titens". Most of the teams are the results of re-adjustment, done on the teams which have featured last year. The teams are practicing. The strategies are getting finalized. The thirst of the winning is taking its toll. Get the form soon. See you all at ground !!
