FC 2015: Poll # 3 TOP 3 Thrillers
[In chronological order]

Avinash scores last ball 4, Shotguns Vs Dravidians, FOICR
Words are not adequate enough to describe this thriller but we will try. 3 runs were required of the last ball to seal a final berth.  It was a Mexican stand-off. Both teams had each other’s balls (literally). Avinash had the willow.  The ball was bowled.  A shot was played (According to eye-witnesses, it was a front-footed cover drive, played on the rise of a half-volley, aimed at bisecting the gap between fielders positioned at silly point and silly mid-off ) The ball flew.  The willow flew too.  The rest was history!

Naresh stands tall and sees CSK through, CSK vs Odd Bouncers, RC League
CSK had bowled well and bundled Odd bouncers for a paltry 60, courtesy of Velappa's Mahishmati shattering spell of 3 overs,3 wickets, 9 runs. But when CSK set out to chase, they knew that one would stand between them and victory.  Rinkalbhai!  The chase began. Even before Rinkalbhai could unleash hell, the top three came back. Then came Rinkalbhai. And so came hell with him! Four more came back. But three more remained. The stylist Drummer could not create any sound as usual. Two more remained. Rinkalbhai had exhausted his overs. But the target still remained steep; steep as a waterfall.  CSK knew, only one could  climb; Nareshubali!   With a stylish stride and the trusted velappa by his side, Nareshubali climbed. Hitting a six every over. At the end of 10 overs, 2 runs remained. Then came a huge Six. Huge enough to clear a waterfall. The target was achieved. The waterfall was conquered.  Velappa did not face Rinkalbhai that day. What would have happened if he had ?  Would have Velappa killed Rinkalbhai? Or would’ve Rinkalbhai killed Velappa? We'll only know it, when we return for THE CONCLUSION in 2016 !

Rakshith defends 3 runs in 3 balls effecting three wickets, Cedar Challengers Vs UICC, UICC Tournament
It was the 15th over. The batting team needed 9 runs of 6 balls and had 3 wickets in hand. Chasing 67, they had come so far stealing singles and doubles at will so the equation looked very much a possibility. In came Rakshith to bowl. He had struggled earlier adjusting his run-up in the new ground. The first ball was an easy double. 7 was required now. The second ball was an easy double too. 5 was required now and wickets were still intact. Facing the third, the batsman look more confident now. More confident that he tried to clear mid-on, spooning a simple catch. The catch was dropped! The batsman ran wildly to scramble another double. The equation now read 3 of 3. The 3 wickets were still intact. A win seemed a distant possibility for the defending team now. Someone had to ignite the spark if they ought to have any chance. In came Rakshith firing the fourth. The ball was too good for the batsman that he ran for a non-existent single. The fielder fired from inner circle and batsman was knocked out. 3 of 2 was needed now. A wide now could almost seal a win for the batting team. The fifth ball was fired. The batsman produced a wild heave but the ball was too fast that it brushed past his bat to land in to keeper's hands. 3 of 1 was needed now. Every outcome was on the cards now. In came Rakshith firing the final ball. The ball was too good and too fast for the tail-ender that all he could do was just thrust it to the mid-off. The skipper who had put himself at mid-on after the dropped catch picked the ball and fired it to Rakshisth. And Rakshith calmly collected the ball and knocked off the bails sparking off wild celebrations. It was all over after the third ball until rakshith decided otherwise.

Honorable Mention
[In chronological order]

Ravi defends 7 runs in the last over by taking 2 wickets,  Titans vs Hit and Run, RC League
Here is one more thriller from the early stages of the tournament which set the stage for more to come. Ravi from Titans starred in this one. With 7 runs required of the 15th over and 3 wickets still  in hand,  ball was given to Ravi. Guess what happened? He effected yet another exciting end.  He started off giving away a single of the very first ball but the second one was a dot. The third one was a single again. Just when everything was going right he followed up with a wide. Boosted by an extra, the Hit and Run batsman went for a big hit to seal the game but Ravi was too good to be cleared. With 3 required of the last one, Ravi maintained his composure to get a wicket of last one as well to win the game

Govind defends 8 runs vs Titans, Dravidians Vs Titans, RC League
This was yet another close and nail-biting finish. Titans were at the receiving end this time. After couple of big hits in the power-play overs, Titans had the game in control. They were needing just 8 runs of the final over when Govind, the captain stepped in to show his heroics. After effecting a first ball run out, he bowled dot balls in his next two, blocking the set batsmen at the non-striker end from facing vital deliveries. At the end, Titans were just 2 runs off the target thanks to Govind tight over under pressure.

Bala defends 8 runs in last over by taking 3 wickets,  CSK vs Hit and Run, RC League
One more thrilling performance was from CSK captain Bala against Hit and Run.  Hit and Run who had contained CSK to 76 were having an easy task in their chase until Bala walked in to take control of the defence. Bowling his first two overs, he had just conceded 7. So when 8 was required of the last over, he was the obvious choice to defend.  In his final over, he knocked out a big hitter in his second ball and followed it up with a caught & bowled in his fourth. He effected a caught and bowled in the fifth too to seal the game . Bala’s performance stood out with 2.5 overs, 9 runs and 3 wickets.

Suresh holds the last wicket for 25 runs and scores a last ball 4, Odd bouncers Vs Hit and Run, RC League
A win would secure a play-offs spot for Odd Bouncers but wait what happened here? Odd Bouncers planned to have more fun than what they wanted when they messed up their simple chase of 77. Requiring to score 28 runs with just 3 wickets to spare. Suresh, the silent assassin stepped in to bat but  in matter of no time he became the last man standing when he lost a couple his partners. With Hit and Run threatening to shut them out any moment, Odd bouncers had no hope but for Suresh. With a tail-ender for company, he kept the chase alive, scoring vital boundaries both in the 13th as well as in the 14th overs hence pulling down the runs required to only 6 of the last one. Withstanding intense pressure, Suresh and his partner scrambled a few more from the first four to reduce the target to 2 of 2. Before everyone could breathe again, Suresh let the 5th ball go,  making it 2 of 1. When everyone thought it could be anybody's game, a mistimed shot or a run out could have ended the chase but Suresh ensured it was his way when he belted the last delivery for a boundary taking Odd Bouncers to the play-offs!
