RSC Cricket Section Olympic Quiz

Despite the FMCO being postponed indefinitely, the RSC cricket section yet again found a way to entertain the section members, JDP boys as well as parents. Instead of the regular cricket quiz, the cricket section mixed things up and created a quiz on the olympics, one of the most prestigious competitions held ever. 20 questions were set to determine the winner of the first ever RSC Olympic Quiz. To add to the everlasting excitement, staggering prizes were offered for the top 3 contestants, including: a bottle of whiskey or RM 150 Kasel Voucher, RM 100 Kasel Voucher and RM 50 Kasel Voucher for the top 3 finishers.

As the quiz commenced, the difference between the top 3 were only a few points, with Praveen, Nish and Rahul fighting with each other. However, due to some quick thinking and accuracy by Praveen and Nish, they started to pull away from the pack and were still fighting for the first spot. Despite the top two contestants in a fierce battle for first and second, third place was wide open and after having a slow start, Uncle Amarjeet, Uncle Henry, Aniish and Uncle Karu, caught up with the rest of the participants. As the quiz came to a close, Praveen and Nish were neck and neck however Praveen edged past Nish at the last question, emerging victorious and claiming the RM150 Kasel Voucher. Nish settled for second place this time, Uncle Amarjeet and Uncle Henry followed.

Great job to youngsters Aniish and Kaemon for finishing in the top 7.  A surprise podium finisher was our very own convenor Uncle Amarjeet, he has proven that he is truly a sports allrounder by performing much better in this multi sports quiz than the previous cricket quizzes.  Kudos also to our Olympian Uncle Karu for his last minute sprint, clearing all hurdles successfully to the finish line though falling short of a podium finish.

I am sure that repeated lockdowns and extended periods of time spent at home are challenging for everyone and I personally found this quiz a great way to interact with everyone while expanding my knowledge of the Olympics. On behalf of all the participants, I would like to thank Uncle Surendran, Uncle Amarjeet and Coach Neville for organising this quiz and unleashing the competitiveness that was so dearly needed for the cricket section members and the boys.
