Hawkeyes are the CHAMPIONS.....Finally!!!

5th season proved lucky for Hawkeyes as thery won the Ramblers T20 competition. In a closely fought match Hawkeyes beat Legends by 3 runs. This is the first time Hawkeyes have won this in-house Ramblers tournament although they have been in the finals multiple times. Legends and Blasters have won 2 times each.

Going into the match both the captains were pretty confident. Neil Ramdath (legends) flipped the coin and Priyank Chohan (hawkeyes) called it correctly. Hawkeyes chose to bat on a little damp wicket due to the rain couple days ago. Mudassir (4) and Armaan (49) opened for Hawkeyes. Mudassir got out in the 2nd over caught by Gurmeet at mid on off the bowling of Taresh Beri. Sandeep Jyoti was bowled by a very good ball by Rajesh in the very next over. Sandeep missed the line completely as the ball went past the bat and took the off stump out. Priyank now joined Armaan and they both consolidated the innings. They had a good partnership of about 75 runs. After that wickets fell pretty regulary and Hawkeyes managed 114 runs in allotted 17 overs. Mian Kamal was pick of the bowlers for Legends with 3 wickets.

Legends chase began in a good fashion. After first 3 overs they were 25/0. Saif bowled the 4th over and gave away only 1 run, that put a bit of pressure on Legends and eventually Faseeh got bowled around his legs by Armaan in the next over. In the very next over Hussain got stumped off Sandeep’s bowling. Legends run rate dropped quite a bit with these two wickets and now the experienced duo of Asad and Taresh were at the crease and they started building the momentum. Legends were cruising at one stage with 81/2 after 12 overs. With 34 required off 30 balls and 8 wickets in hand it was Legends match. But Hawkeyes had other plans, Sandeep was given the ball and he cleaned up both Asad and Taresh. Asad tried the reverse paddle and Taresh missed the line completely trying to work the ball towards mid wicket. Suddenly the match turned as new batsmen were under pressure and no easy runs were given. Saif and Priyank bowled quite tight while Sandeep was pick of the bowlers taking 4 wickets. In last over, 13 runs were required which proved a little too much and eventually Hawkeyes won by 3 runs.
