Sheldon Williams are 2017 Champions !!!!

Sheldon defeated defending champions Winston Knoll by 7 wickets to win the Doug Hunter Trophy 2017 and become new Regina City Champions. The trophy was constituted in 2016 in honour of Doug Hunter, a cricket player, enthusiast and coach in the 80's.

In a low scoring game, disciplined bowling from the Sheldon seamers restricted Knoll to a below par 67. Rana was the leading wicket taker with 3 wickets. Thakar, Muneer and skipper Rushi chipped in with 2 wickets apiece. Hassan Raza was the top scorer for Knoll with a smartly compiled 16 as wickets tumbled around him. No other batsman got into double digits.

Sheldon stuttered in their chase losing 2 wickets with the 34 more needed, but tournaments leading run scorer and skipper Rushi spearheaded the chase as Sheldon won with 7 wickets and 5 over remaining. Rushi Patel top scored with 21. Hassan Tahir bowled magnificently for Knoll grabbing all 3 of Sheldon's wickets to fall, but got no support from the other bowlers.

Bruce, Rod & Judith, members of the Hunter family were in attendance.
