RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. GENERAL 1.1. Code of Laws: 1.1.1. The MCC Code of Laws as of October 2022 will be applied. 1.2. Kits: 1.2.1. All teams must wear colour-coordinated and same kits. Due to the use of white balls at this bash, teams must avoid white colour kits (e.g. no white shirt and pants). Teams not wearing matching kits will be penalised at the discretion of the bash committee (A kit is a standard shirt and pants). 1.3. Balls: 1.3.1. 4-piece white balls will be used for the bash 2022. 1.4. Toss: 1.4.1. The toss for every match shall take place exactly 15 minutes before the game scheduled on the fixtures. Failure to be there in time will result in the toss forfeiture, and the opposition given the right to decide. 1.5. Starting XI (+ 12th man): 1.5.1. Teams are requested to present the starting XI at the toss to the designated scorer/umpire. This team will be the final XI to participate in the game unless unforeseen circumstances arise due to which the player is unavailable. With the assistance of the umpire, the bash committee will decide whether a replacement will be allowed to make the starting XI. 1.6. Players: 1.6.1. As directed by the Wanderers Club and Cricket Club, players banned by the ICC or CSA are not allowed to be registered and participate in the Wanderers Bash. 1.6.2. The full name & surname should be clearly stated when submitting the matchday starting XI and include the 12th man. 1.6.3. There are no restrictions on the number of players registered with the team. However, no new players will be allowed to be registered post the completion of Group games. 1.6.3.1. In the event a team cannot have a complete starting XI in the knockout stages, registration of new players will be allowed at the discretion of the Bash committee. 1.6.3.2. In the event the registration of a new player is granted, the player will not be allowed to bowl and will bat below 7 only. 1.6.4. 1 player cannot play for 2 different teams.
1.7. Team sheet: 1.7.1. Captains of each team will be responsible for sharing the team sheet. Sharing can be done by a hard copy of the team sheet template shared with the captains or electronically to the scorer. 2. GAME CONDITIONS: 2.1. Overs: 2.1.1. Each game in the bash will consist of 16 overs per innings. 2.2. Time: 2.2.1. Each innings will be allocated 66 minutes (4 minutes per over) to complete the allotted overs. 2.3. Overs allowed in the group phase: 2.3.1. Four (4) bowlers can bowl three (3) overs. 2.3.2. One (1) bowler can bowl four (4) overs. 2.4. Bowling from one side: 2.4.1. In the 16 overs innings, eight (8) overs will be bowled from each side. 2.5. Powerplay: 2.5.1. There will be 4 powerplay overs. The first 2 overs are from one end and the first 2 overs from the other. 2.6. Fall of a wicket: 2.6.1. At the fall of a wicket, the new batman will be on strike whether the batsmans have crossed or not. 2.7. Field restrictions: 2.7.1. Powerplay overs: only 2 players will be allowed outside the 30-yard circle. 2.7.2. End of powerplay overs: maximum of 5 players will be allowed outside the 30-yard circle. 2.7.3. If the team fielding fails to bowl the revised number of overs by the specified time, 1 outfield player will be required to be brought into the 30 yard circle for every over bowled after the allotted time. 2.8. Inclement Weather Interruptions: 2.8.1. Team Batting First: 2.8.1.1. When playing time has been lost due to inclement weather, the revised number of overs to be bowled in the match shall be based on the rule mentioned in 2.12.1 (minus 1 over for every 4 minutes lost). 2.8.1.2. The revision of the number of overs will ensure, whenever possible, that both teams have the opportunity of batting for the same number of overs.
2.9. Team Batting Second: 2.9.1. When playing time has been lost and, as a result, it is not possible for the team batting second to have the opportunity of receiving its full allocated, or revised allocation of overs in the playing time available, the number of overs shall be reduced at a rate mentioned in 2.12.1. 2.9.2. To constitute a match, a minimum of 6 overs have to be bowled. 2.10. The Duckworth & Lewis (D/L) method will be applied to revise the new target. 2.11. Rescheduling of the game will be done at the discretion of the Bash committee. 2.11.1. Both teams need to be available at allocated time. 2.11.2. Facilities need to be available at allocated time. 2.12. Loss of overs: 2.12.1. Each match will constitute 16 overs per side. 1 over shall be lost for every 4 minutes delay (i.e Rain delay, Late arrivals of teams). 2.13. Points: 2.13.1. A win shall be awarded 4 points. 2.13.2. In the event of a tie, there will be a super over. 2.13.3. In the event of rain, both teams will get 2 points if a minimum of 6 overs in the second innings has not been completed. 2.13.4. In the event of 6 overs being completed, the result shall be determined by the Duckworth-Lewis Method. 2.14. Team qualification: 2.14.1. The top 2 teams progress to the QF’s. If 3 teams are tied with the same number of points, we will use the net run rate to separate the teams. 2.15. Time wasting: 2.15.1. The bowling and batting teams can be penalised for wasting time. The umpire shall decide whether overs shall be cut if it is found that either team is wasting time intentionally. 2.16. Free hit: 2.16.1. Any form of no-ball will constitute a free hit.
3. UMPIRES AND SCORING 3.1. Umpires: 3.1.1. The umpires present are of a high standard and are completely neutral. Therefore, all umpires' decisions are final. Any arguing, complaining or aggressive attitude towards the umpires could result in the docking of points or even disqualification. 3.2. Leg umpires: 3.2.1. The bash committee will provide leg umpires. 3.2.2. If a neutral leg umpire is not available, the batsman next to come in will stand as the leg umpire. 3.2.2.1. In this case, the main umpire has the authority to over-turn leg umpiring decisions. 3.3. Scorers: 3.3.1. Appointed score writers for every game to keep the game as hassle-free and neutral as possible are allocated.
