AKSC CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF KNML 50 OVER LEAGUE 2019

FINAL## AKSC VS CARAVANS## The final between the 2 dominating Cricket clubs of the country was finally played and it proved to be a showdown to remember. Both teams played extra ordinary level of cricket in what was the Match of the tournament. Caravans won the toss and elected to bat first with 3 top order batsman of Caravans going back to the pavilion in the first 10 overs. It was then a good 100 runs partnership between Gokul Das and Kassimu Nassoro which helped stabilize the Caravans inning. Gokul Das was dismissed in the 30th over scoring 38 off 59 balls and Kassimu Nassoro in the 36th over scoring 72 off 90 balls. A good knock of 39 off 51 balls was followed by Hamisi Abdallah as he played down the innings with the tail to sum a total of 253 runs in 50 overs for Caravans. To give credit to AK''s bowling, all bowlers maintained a good economy and gave away very few extras AK''s chase was a rollercoaster ride. Having lost just 1 wicket in the first 15 overs of the game with a score of 64, AK seemed to be in a stable position. A good partnership of 95 runs between Arshaan jassani and Riziki Kizito was a major plus in the chase with Arshaan Jassani going back to the pavilion scoring 43 of 90 balls hence nurturing the innings well for his side. Riziki Kizito was the player of the match scoring 86 runs off 68 balls which seemed to enough for his side to seal the victory. Though things were to change. Caravans coming back into the game took command by dismissing Harshid Chouhan, Aahil Jassani and skipper Ayzaz jassani with none of the 3 batsman managing to get to double figures and build a partnership. However, It was a surprise cameo by AK''s John Zablon who scored 19 of 18 balls to setup a thrilling finale. However, requiring just 9 runs to win in 15 balls and 3 wickets in hand, Caravans came back to life as they took 2 wickets in 2 balls in setting up a thriller of a finish. With Caravans needing just 1 wicket to win, it was all about holding nerves for the Ak Batsman on crease Yash Desai and Malik Alani to stay till the end and seal the win for their side. Caravans bowling not being upto the usual mark conceding 41 extras gave a boost to AK''s chase. With 2 runs required to win from the last ball of the game, a single taken by Yash desai meant the match was a tie and required a Super over. The super-over however proved to be too strong for Caravans to handle as AK batsmen Harshid Chohan and Riziki Kizito set up a total of 18 runs. In reply, with exceptional bowling from Harshid Chohan, Caravans came 9 runs short off the target and hence AKSC were crowned champions in a truly memorable final.
