Liability Disclaimer for All Activities for Torrance Cricket League (TCL)

Torrance Cricket League (TCL) does not provide liability insurance for the protection of individuals, groups, organizations, businesses, spectators, or others who may participate in the sports and activities that are offered.

In consideration for your participation in said sports that Torrance Cricket League (TCL) offer, the individual, group, organization, business, spectator, or other, does hereby release and forever discharge the Torrance Cricket League (TCL), and its board and volunteers, jointly and severally from any and all actions, causes of actions, claims and demands for, upon or by reason of any damage, loss or injury, which hereafter may be sustained by participating in the Torrance Cricket League (TCL) sports/activities.

This release extends and applies to, and also covers and includes, all unknown, unforeseen, unanticipated and unsuspected injuries, damages, loss and liability and the consequences thereof, as well as those now disclosed and known to exist.

The provisions of any state, federal, local or territorial law or state providing substance that releases shall not extend to claims, demands, injuries, or damages which are known or unsuspected to exist at this time, to the person executing such release, are hereby expressly waived.

I hereby agree on behalf of my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, to indemnify the Torrance Cricket League (TCL) and its officers, board and volunteers, joint and severally from any and all actions, causes of actions, claims and demands for, upon or by reason of any damage, loss or injury, which hereafter may be sustained by participating in the Torrance Cricket League (TCL) sports/activities.

It is further understood and agreed that said participation in the Torrance Cricket League (TCL) sports/activities is not to be construed as an admission of any liability and acceptance of assumption of responsibility by the Torrance Cricket League (TCL), its board and volunteers, jointly and severally, for all damages and expenses for which the Torrance Cricket League (TCL), its board and volunteers, become liable as a result of any alleged act of the parade participant.

"The participant assumes any and all liability for any damages or injury he/she may sustain or cause while engaging in any Torrance Cricket League (TCL) sports/activities.

The participant and/or his team also agrees to carry liability and medical insurance that covers him/her for participation in activities Torrance Cricket League (TCL) offers.

"By signing below, the participant acknowledges having been fully informed of the content of this waiver by reading it before signing this waiver. In addition, your signature constitutes a waiver and releases Torrance Cricket League (TCL) from any and all liability claims. Furthermore, by signing below constitute an understanding that the participant is required to carry his or her own medical insurance."

IMPORTANT THINGS:
- TCL Organizers, Ganesh-Karthik-Ashley-Sasi-Shyam, may chose to step-in anytime during any games in this tournament and have the rights to overturn the on-field umpires call and make the final decision
- No drinks or refreshments will be provided by the organziers; Every team and their players are responsible for their own food/ drinks/ beverages.. and Please clean-up after your games
- In the event of any natural and unwanted disruptions (like light or ground issues) to ANY games, if 6 overs were already completed in the second innings, then a winner will be declared using DL methods even if we cannot complete the remaining overs.
- Things that are not covered here will default to the standard cricket rules that we are all used to!

VERY BASICS:
- Team Roster MUST include NO more than 15 players; A player cannot play nor be part of two teams
- A team must have atleast 8 players in the field/ ground to be eligible to start the game. If they only have 7 players at the scheduled start time, it will be considered a delay and hence will forfeit the game if they still have only upto 7 players after 15 mins
- 12 overs a side with two bowlers may bowl a maximum of 3 overs; New ball for each innings (Nivia 3812 Yellow balls will be used for this tournament)
- Umpire decision is final! Ofcourse captains can discuss a harsh decision but no arguments nor extended conversations
- We will ensure the field/ pitch is prepared with all neccessary kit and boundaries
- If the ball goes ON the wide-line mark, it is still considered a good ball; Only if the ball goes beyond the wide line, it should be called a wide!
- If your team has Umpiring duty, it's a MUST to represent with 3 players. Please send high quality Umpires who have good Cricketing knowledge, who read this document completely and who can handle decisions under pressure situations
- Please no excuses to skip umpiring and it's not fair to have the playing teams score or umpire!
- Until the ball is ruled as declared runs, it is still in play and live. 1D means batsmen switch strike and 2D means batsmen maintain strike

SCHEDULE:
- Timing, Timing and Timing! I cannot stress this enough. If the games are delayed, it will impact the schedule with other field reservations
- We MUST start the games on-time with how many ever players you have; If the game is delayed bcos of a team/ players, then that team will be penalized:
- Team that causes delay will lose 1 over of batting for every 4 mins delay
- As you can imagine some games may be finished earlier and I don't want to lose time. So please please please please be early by atleast 30 mins than your scheduled game time.

POINTS/ BONUS POINT:
- Each win means a team gets 4-points. If a group game is tied, points will be shared hence both teams gets 2 points.
- For Semis/ Finals, if the game is tied a 1-over standard super over will be played. If Super over is tied, then the number of boundaries hit (both fours and sixes combined) from the main game and Super over combined will decide the winner
- On Bonus points, we understand ICC rules says 1.25x RR but we modified it for TCL. If a team wins through one of the following two ways then there will be one bonus point awarded for the winning team when:
a: Chasing the target in 7 overs or less. Say, if the team chases successfully in 7.1 overs, then there will be NO bonus point.
b. Defending the runs, the opponents scores less than 60%. Say, If a team scores 100 batting first, and their opponent scored 59, then there will be a bonus point awarded.
- There will be NO bonus point awarded, irrespective of results, when the game gets into DL method due to interruptions or other reasons. Basically, we need a full quota completed game for bonus point system to be considered.

BOUNCERS/ NOBALL/ BEAMERS:
- ANY no-balls will have a free-hit next ball.
- No-balls takes precedence over any illegal nature of the delivery; For example if the ball is a waist high full toss on the leg side, it should be called a No-Ball as that takes precedence over being called as Wide
- Only Leg Umpires can first adjudicate the bouncers and/ or beamers. But the umpires at bowler end may discuss any decision with leg umpire and both have the rights to overturn the initial decision
- A bowler shall be limited to one bouncer per over. A bouncer is a ball that passes or would have passed above the shoulder height of the striker standing upright at the popping crease.
- The umpire at the bowlers end shall give a warning to the bowler and the batsman on strike when the first bouncer has been bowled.
- A ball that passes above head height of the batsman that prevents him from being able to hit it with his bat by means of a normal cricket stroke shall be called a wide.
- Any bouncer that was called a wide under this playing condition shall also counted as the allowed bouncer in that over
- In the event of a bowler bowled the one allowed bouncer in an over, the umpire at the bowlers end shall call and signal no ball on each occasion the ball goes above shoulder height
- Any beamers (waist high full toss) is a NO-ball and have free-hit the next ball. If a bowler bowls a second beamer in a game, he MUST stop bowling in that game
- Free hit will be awarded the next ball after any type of no-balls; Batsman can't be out by caught/ bowled/ stumped in a FreeHit but he can be Run-out!
- If the batsman is coming down the crease, the beamer/ bouncer call is totally 100% based on Umpire's call.
- Even if the ball was over waist high or above head at the time batsman met the ball when he is down the track, Umpire may chose to NOT call a beamer/ bouncer/ no ball if he thinks the ball would have been at normal height if batsman had stayed in the crease
- A ball may be called a No-Ball if the bowler’s back foot has not land within and touching the return crease appertaining to his stated mode of delivery. There will be a free-hit for back foot no-ball as well
- It's bowler's responsibility to say the bowling guard to the umpire before he bowls his first over in the game or coming back to bowl his spell. If he doesn't then the Umpire may call this a No-Ball after the delivery.
- Dead Ball: If the ball rolled over without bouncing before it reaches in-line with stumps, then it must be called a dead ball. No runs of any sort are allowed in dead ball and the bowler must bowl the delivery again.

LEG BYES:
- Only Umpires MUST adjudicate if the ball came off bat or any part of batsman body; He may chose to ask the batsman if his bat touched the ball but Umpires makes the final call
- No runs of any kind allowed off a delivery that was called as a leg bye (like overthrows from fielder attempting a run out)
- But a batsman may be runout or stumped off a leg bye i.e it's purely a batsman job to stay in the crease even if the delivery was called as a leg bye which has NO runs

RETIRED OUT and FIELDING RESTRICTIONS:
- A batsman shall only retire if there is an injury or physical condition that prevents him from continuing to bat.
- In the event a batsman is retiring, he will be considered as 'Retired OUT' and he can't come back to bat in that innings.
- We highly encourage all teams to keep up sportsmanship and not use 'retired out' as a strategy to get a new batsman in.
- Only a maximum of 5 fielders are allowed in the leg side but no limitations on off side. So if a right handed bowler comes around the stumps OR a Left-handed bowler bowls over the stumps, he is considered as a leg-side fielder for a right handed batsman, hence only 4 more fielders may be placed in leg side
- It's captain's responsibility to follow this rule above hence there may not be any warnings; After a ball is delivered with 6 or more fielders in leg side, Umpire may call that delivery as no-ball without any prior warning.
- In case of umpire NOT noticing this, the batting captain or batsmen may appeal this out to Umpires

MEASUREMENTS:
- Wide line will be marked as 'One bat from the off stump'. The bowling crease side line will be marked as '1.5 bat from off stump'
- Boundary length, where applicable (other than the fenced side of baseball fields) will be around 45-50 meters from the center of the pitch
- Pitch length i.e stumps to stumps will be 65 feet

SUBSTITUTES:
- NO Bye-Runner allowed for any reason! Not even if the opponent captain agrees!
- Only one substitute can be used in a match; Substitues are allowed ONLY if the opponent captains agrees and may be used for ANY number of overs
- No limitations on the number of overs for a bowler to be in field to bowl an over
- No limitations on the number of overs for a wicket-keeper to be in field or off wicket-keeping duties to bowl an over

CHUCKING:
- Captains can appeal to Umpires if they feel a bowler is chucking. We are not following any International standards with elbow angles or this/ that.
- But if BOTH Umpires agree the bowler is chucking and the organizers agree with that too, then the bowler should be terminated from bowling in that game.

MANKADING:
- Mankading is offically allowed. No prior warning needs to be given before appealing and/ or giving out.
- Umpires to confirm with the fielding captain if he is officially appealing for the wicket. And if the batsman was indeed out of the crease when bowler took the bails out at the non-striker end, he will be given out.
- Though Mankading is legal without any warnings, it is often considered as bad sportsmanship.
- We highly encourage fielding captains to give clear warnings and/ or talk to the batting captain before taking the route of taking a wicket through mankading.

AWARDS/ TROPHIES:
- Winners Trophy for Champions and Runners up
- Trophies for Man of the Match in all group games, semis and finals
- Batsman and Bowler of the tournament (Scores from all games including Semis/ Finals will be considered)
