                                                         UPL Tournament Rules 2019


Timing:
A typical Twenty20 game is completed in about three hours, with each innings lasting around 75–90 minutes and a 10 minute interval. Each 4 minute delay6 will cost one over less batting for the fielding side.
Example: If fielding side completes their 20 overs in 100 minutes (1 hour 40 minute) then they will bat only 18 overs to chase the target.
If there is delay in second innings bowling sides captain will be banned for immediate next match.
Start Time:
Minimum 9 players are required for toss and to start the match. If any team is not present at the start time, umpires shall wait for 15 extra minutes and give walkover to opposite team. Each 4 minutes delay will cost one over deduction.
Mankading:
It remains legal for a bowler to run out a non-striker who has strayed
outside his crease.
Bouncer:
Only one bouncer per over is allowed. Any additional bouncer will be called as NO BALL by the umpires.
First bouncer can’t be a no ball. It can only be a wide. A ball can be declared no ball for height only after bowler has bowled 1 bouncer previously in the same over.
No Balls :
The umpire will call a no ball if:
1. The heel of the bowler's front foot lands on or in front of the popping crease.
2. The bowler's back foot is touching or outside the return crease.
3. A full toss ball which does not bounce from a bowler reaches the batsman at his waist height.
4. Two balls above the waist height in the same over, the bowler will be immediately disqualified to bowl in that particular match.
5. The bowler does not notify the umpire of a change in their mode of delivery. If a bowler says they are a right-arm bowler to the umpire and then bowls left-arm, the umpire will call a no ball.
6. The umpire believes the suspecting bowling action.
7. If the ball bounces more than once and if the ball pitching outside the pitch then the umpire will call as NO Ball.
8. No more than 2 fielders can be set behind square leg line of a batsman, if a deep backward square leg and leg gully or leg slip set by a fielding captain it is a NO Ball.
Fielding Rules:
1. During the first six overs, a maximum of two fielders can be outside the 30-yard circle (this is known as the powerplay).
2. After the first six overs, a maximum of five fielders can be outside the fielding circle.
3. No more than five fielders can be on the leg side at any time. Bowler is not counted as fielder.
Substitute Fielders:
Substitute fielder are allowed for only 2 overs but the player should be in the premises of the ground. Replacement of fielder in case of match injuries will be decided by the on field umpires.
Tie Match
In league matches if there is a tie then the points will be shared equally. All other matches (Pre-QF, QF, Semis & Final) in case of a tie there will be a super over. Batting team has to choose only 3 batsman. In case of super over tie, the team with maximum number of boundaries of that particular match will be declared as winner.
Points Sharing or DL Method
In case of rain, dust or any other natural calamities which will disturb the and unable to continue the match then umpires will decide to share the points equally. There will not be any rematch.
Incase of delay in starting the match or delay in continuing the second innings due to weather conditions we will be having reduced overs match, which will be based on DL Method.
Jersey:
Jersey is compulsory. Umpires will not allow any player to play without full team jersey. No white pads are allowed for batsman or keeper. Keeper’s pads are not allowed for batting.
Other Important notes:
1. A player will not be allowed to join the team after the start of 6th over.
2. A player must play at least one league match prior to playing Pre-QF, QF, Semis or Final.
3. Mock Fielding will give 5 runs to the opposite team.
4. Prayer break is only 45 minutes.
5. Replacing new ball in case of damage is allowed till the 6th over. After the 6th over if the ball gets damaged then old ball will be given as replacement.
6. Bib is compulsory for 12th man to enter the ground.
7. New batsman should arrive at the batting crease within 90 seconds.
8. Wear helmets for your own safety. It is the responsibility of the Team Captain and Team Management if there are any match injuries. UPL management is not responsible for any injuries on or off field.
9. Each group 3 top teams will be considered for play off. Group toper will directly qualify for Quarter Finals. Below are the details of Pre-QF, QF and Semi Final.
Pre QF1 = A2 vs D3
Pre QF2 = A3 vs D2
Pre QF3 = B2 vs C3
Pre QF4 = B3 vs C2
QF 1 = A1 vs Winner of Pre-QF3
QF 2 = B1 vs Winner of Pre-QF1
QF 3 = C1 vs Winner of Pre-QF2
QF 4 = D1 vs Winner of Pre-QF4
Semi Final 1 = QF 1 vs QF 3
Semi Final 2 = QF 2 vs QF 4
Final = Semi Final 1 vs Semi Final 2
