What an exciting way to close out the competition. Two unbeaten franchises locking horns against each other in the final to be crowned the champions, and didn't they save the best for the last. Scorchers had the SuperKings down and under till the 7th over; in fact removed Viren for a golden duck who batted so well in the semifinals, and were already smelling victory, but the never say die attitude of SuperKings led UC to play an innings to remember for a lifetime, with some great support by Amit. The best handicap pair in the tournament put up 50+ runs in the last 3 overs to post the highest total of the tournament to set up an exciting run chase. Scorchers started a bit slow, and with Shankha on the crease almost gave the SuperKings a mini scare, as he started the run chase in style dislodging Sagar for 2 consecutive sixes, and switching batting stances to break his rhythm. In the end it was too big of a total to chase, and the SuperKings prevailed.
This year's tournament was exciting to say the least. With some fantastic new additions in Shankha, Shaurya, Rohit, Pramod, Dharmik… and the list goes on… the quality of the competition definitely raised up a few notches. With a little under 1000 runs, across 76 players, hitting 35 6's, and 75 catches, and 29 ducks the tournament set a unique record for the stats.
