Under 9 Showcase - MidwayThe Under 9 section is the starting point in the JHB Winter League and is always an exciting age group to follow as it gives a glimps into the future of our wonderful game. Nico van Der Merwe is a Fast Track Tigers player who is leading the runs scoring chart in the Under 9 division. He has batted in 2 innings and scored a brilliant 88* off 59 balls against Delfos Cricket Club and a 19 in the other match he has played in so far. Hopefully there is more to come for this young cricketer as he has definitely started off on the right foot. (player profile) Other players who have shown great form are: Aidan Jackson scoring 97 in 3 matches (player profile) for Fast Track Tigers, Riccardo Scarola scoring 76 in one innings so far (player profile) playing for Randburg Cricket Club, Richan Kuhn scoring 76 in 2 innings playing for Randburg Cricket Club and Tristan Osborn scoring 75 runs in his 3 outings for Delfos Cricket Club These are certainly no small feats that these players are achieving. Scoring 50's at brilliant strike rates is as good as scoring hundreds for these guys so really well done boys! Under 11 Showcase - Midway Tameen Ismail is the leading run scorer in the Under 11 age group in what appears to be a hotly contested section. In his very first outing in the JHB Winter League, he scored a wonderful 58 runs in 69 balls playing for Alberton Cricket Club, he then followed up that performance with a solid 31 runs and again a decent 25* runs in another match. Consistent performances has put him on top of the batting charts and hopefully he continues his fine form. (player profile) As mentioned the Under 11 batting category is very close at the top and here are the other players looking to take the top spot: Xander van Niekerk scoring 153 in 3 matches (player profile) for Delfos Cricket Club, Kyle Henenne scoring 147 in 4 matches (player profile) for Randburg Cricket Club, Clint West scoring 146 runs in 2 outings for TT Sixers and Liam Venter scoring 139 in 3 matches for Delfos Cricket Club. Under 13 Showcase - Midway Trent Shrives is the Under 13 TOP FORM player rising above his counterparts on the batting learderboard - He certainly knows it! Trent plays his cricket for Bedfordview Cricket Club and is definitely competing in a Group that is proving to be very competitive (Group C) with his team sitting 3rd on the table. His first outing was not the best - shaking off the rust perhaps? However since then he has turned it up. In his second apperance he scored a great 85* off 71, then added 49* off 29 balls and another 49 off 42 balls all against formidable opposition. In total his has accumulated 185 runs in 4 matches. (player profile) Although Trent has put in great performances with the bat, there are other players who have equally been phenominal: Abdullah Mohammed scoring 163 runs in 3 innings (player profile) for Wits Cricket Club, Luke Clark scoring 157 in 4 matches (player profile) for Randburg Cricket Club, Ombesa Matsha scoring 151 in 4 matches for Delfos Cricket Club and Vihan Pretorius scoring 150 in 3 matches for Roodepoort Rebels.
