Third Week: Mix of High, Low and a stand out Ginormous Score

All the guys in our so-called group are emotional about all the tournament chronicles. Be it the sensitive issue of prize money for man of the match, rolling out the pitch before the game or may be even arranging snacks for playing teams. Nearly, 130 entries with their own agenda somehow chips in and leaves something good for the tournament.
Bunch of enthusiasts with the likes of GUPTAS, MAHAJANS, SIRKONDAS and SINGHS took their all-important time out on the eve of 3rd week’s games for pitch preparation. Pointing out to their valiant efforts (which they do every week) PSN cricket pitch will behave like that college chick who is moody. At times sharing laughs, at times all touch me not, at times uber sexy and inviting, not to mention at times WET/SMOOTH (for the bowlers, of course). PMS’ing meh, who cares, we got a few amatory games (phew strong word their).
SHOREY Vs BERI, should have been an anticipating battle but mere 100 as target was expected to be a piece of cake for the SAPPERS. Mr SIKARWAR had some other plans. 3 overs, 1 maiden, 6 runs and 3 EFFING wickets, who were you that day? WALSH! Game’s gist was that JATS should have scored more. All-round work of 2 wickets and 33 of just 21 here by the VICE CAPTAIN MAYANK, made sure that SAPPERS go home with 4 points.
MARATHAS are turning out to be this team that is breaking the 150 mark easily every time they come to bat. Nothing much to take from this game apart from the exceptional hits by RAVI OLLA (who happens to sit at the top of the rankings), 55 of 32 IPL like. Above all, the mind-blasting (Russel Peter’s reference) bowling by the CAPTAIN KARTIK who knocked 5 of the NAGAS wicket which include the big guns namely HARSH, TULI and VISHAL. Standing ovation for you there.
The last game LADAKH SCOUTS played was a mere mockery of fielding efforts on the ground but this time they made sure none of the catches went begging (well almost), no runouts were missed. The threat ADITYA fell to such a brilliance by wicket keeper SID BORDOLOY. CAPTAIN SUMIT lead by the example with his all-round performance and confirmed a bonus point for SCOUTS with the SIX. I think DOCTOR had the best bowling figures of his life in this game.
PANKAJ, where did that come from? A blistering 61 of 34. Despite of solid start, GORKHAS didn’t really capitalized or should I say BERI didn’t allow them to. With 4 wickets of his quota of 3, he made sure his team is chasing a gettable target. But with some tight and aggressive bowling NAMAN and Co. sealed the game quite convincingly. ANURAG PAI / ARUN RAVINDRAN another finds for PSN cricket? Having said that we have not yet witnessed the onslaught by BRIJESH, I think it’s around the corner.
SCOUTS are looking good but in bits here and bits there. They are yet to fire on the batting front. NIKHIL (from Columbia Convent, Indore) was all over them 3 overs, 8 runs, 3 wickets plus a 36 ball 56, was surely a Man of the Match effort. A fighting 34 of 15 by the BOLT we call SUMIT DASS was a treat to watch. Innings by KISHORE and NIKHIL took DOGRAS home with a bonus point.
The game I have been waiting to write for. Drum-Rolls!
17th Feb witnessed the first century of this league and it came from the mighty blade of BUBBY (SURJIT SOMA). His 110 from 42 included 6 4s’ and 12 monstrous 6s’. Massacre, annihilation, decimation I am out of words. So, I borrowed them from the Non-Striker RAVI OLLA, who was at the other end when SOMA upper cut his way to the century.

His name is Surjeet soma ahoy ahoy,
He took out a sword on Sunday “o boy- o boy,
It was a massacre, blew sappers Saturday joy
Soma was uncertain when Ashu was summoned by the viceroy
One hit the podium flat, the end of the sorry ploy
The sappers fought gallantly, but he did see it and destroy
The strokes were gun shots from an old man’s puma toy
12 sixes so huge - the bowlers looked a little coy
With 197/1 in 15, Maratha got full ROI
And rolled their arm over and went home for a sip of Choi
Watch out for Surjeet soma - he has lit up the tourney skoi

KARAN’s 48 of 37, VARUN’s 30 of 15 and DABUR’s 21 of 16 could just take SAPPERS to 126. The stature of this inning by SOMA was such that PREMANANDA’s genius 3 overs, 13 runs and 4 wickets could only claim consolation. MARATHAS went home with a Bonus Point.

Here is the Points Table now after 3rd Week
