Tournament Specification & Rules

  • Match format:
    • 6 players per team
    • 5 overs per team
    • Any 5 players may bowl
  • Soft Tennis ball (provided by organisers) - There will be NO option to use different types of balls.
  • A player may not represent more than one team. This WILL result in a team disqualification.  
  • No extra balls for NO balls/WIDE balls. However, extra 6 runs for WIDE/NO balls.
  • Balls delivered leg side of the STUMPS or over the SHOULDER height will be called as a WIDE ball.
  • Balls delivered as full toss above BATSMAN’S WAIST HEIGHT (Beamer) will be called as a NO ball.  
  • LBW (Leg before wicket) ruling will NOT be used.
  • Teams (with all 6 players) must be present at the scheduled ground 15 minutes before the match.
  • If a team is not present at the scheduled time, the other team will be awarded as the winner.
  • If both teams are not present, the match will be cancelled and there will be NO rescheduling.
  • Coordinators will inform the scheduled time; match time may advance or get delay - be prepared.
  • No waiting time to start a match. Do not waste time during the match for unnecessary field settings or to send the new batsman.
  • In case of delays due to unavoidable circumstances (rain, wind etc) or purposely done, the committee may decide to reduce the number of OVERS or Number of balls per OVER.
  • In addition to the above, all the standard cricket rules will be followed.
  • The Captain is responsible for the Score Cards and Score Boards (if applicable).
  • Best Batsman/Bowler will be selected from the tournament. The Man of the Match (Final match) – The “Lionel Kodagoda” Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the best player of the final match (Chosen by the guests).
  • Matters arise during the tournament must be dealt between team captain and organisers only. Arguments with voluntary umpires will result the disqualification of the team without any refund. Any racial abuses or discriminations will not be tolerated and uncontrollable matters will be referred to Australian civil law agencies (Police).
Liquor Consumption
  • Liquor Consumption is strictly prohibited near the playing area.
Please ensure your team members and supporters adhere to the above liquor consumption rules.

  • All the teams will be assigned a group and team number during the draw as per table above.
  • Each Group member will play against the other teams within the same group. The winners will earn 2 points, losers no points. In a case of a draw, both teams will earn 1 point each.
  • Selection for Quarter Finals - From each group, one team with the highest points/net run rate (i.e. the group winner) WILL advance to the Quarter Finals. In addition, out of the remaining teams; another 2 teams will be selected based on the team’s net run rate (NRR) and WILL advance to Quarter Finals. (See diagram below).
  • Net Run Rate (NRR) Calculation – Net Run Rate for winning/losing team will be allocated based on the calculation/value provided by https://cricclubs.com/ website. Please note no further/other calculation will be used for calculating the NRR during this tournament.

In the case of a Tied match in Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals or Final; the winner will be chosen by (committee’s decision): a) An extra over for each team or b) tossed coin
