LCCL Spring 2016 Championship

If you were glued to TV watching India win against WI or England whip Pakistan team then you missed the most happening Cricket at Bolen park in Loudoun county, where Spring 2016 championship finals were played in midst of hot summer days.

With both fields setup for Grand Finale Division 1 started off at 4 pm between i2IT Avengers Vs Spartans and Division 2 at 4:30 pm between Fafda 11 Vs Phoenix CC, with neutral paid umpires Avengers batted first and lost 2 quick wickets in the first over and was slippery slope, Abhi (the big guy) came to rescue and pumped up the scoreboard with couple of sixes and boundaries but it was RaviKrishna who sky rocketed the score to 132 with his amazing half century (6X6's and 2X4's).

On the other field Phoenix batted first, Fafda 11 had good success in first 10 overs and they restricted Phoenix to 30 runs for 5 wickets in 10 overs, we could see Fafda bowlers were really deep frying Phoenix but this is game of cricket Phoenix jumped back in last 10 overs with Kevin scoring 25 valuable runs (2X6's and 2X4's) to set a decent target of 82.

Fafda 11 set out to bat, they kept the scoreboard ticking got a good start but were pulled back, none of them stood longer to make a dent and Phoenix kept the pressure lid on, Parta the savior for Fafda with his stroke of 25 runs helped Fafda 11 to clinch the winning title. It came down to 9 runs of 7 balls with 1 wicket, Parth hit massive 6 over long-off & finished off with winning shot of 2 runs, you could see Fafda was thrown all over the bolen fields (hope they cleaned it up ltr)

Shifting to Division 1 now, with half time it was daunting task for Spartans to score and I'm not sure if it was their plan not to attack during first 10 overs, Spartans were 37/4  Avengers were clearly favourites and everyone felt it was game over, wait 9th over Nasir walks in and they have close to 100 runs to score in 10 overs, can they do it ??
No really can they, never mind let's watch this brilliant batsmen Nasir who scored few sixes that caught everybody's attention, quickly the weather was changing on the ground it was much cooler and Spartans were marching.
On the sidelines Terry is explaining the game to other PRCS staff and also understanding how the game is developing it was gripping moment....
A good partnership between Nasir and Rohan got Spartans close to 100+ and Rohan departed and so did Nasir with his blazing 50 (5X6's, 2X4's), final over we couldn't have expected anything other than win or loss but ended up in a Super over.

It's Super-over Spartans took the guard, Nasir held his nerves and scored flashing 2 sixes on 4th and 6th ball setting the target 14 to win, Avengers were able to score just half the runs and walked away from another close victory, and Spartans deserved to win.

It was another day, another championship league and fun event that was celebrated with family and friends and this was made possible by hard working volunteers (so called Committee members), PRCS staff and our Sponsors Apple Appliances, Asian Fusion, New York life and ChatKazz (they provided us tasty appetizers).

We ran out of time due to weather conditions but were able to present the league awards, Committee trophies and burst out some champagne into lots of fun, check out the pictures on http://www.Loudoun.Cricket website

Stay tuned for Fall Season 2016 !!!
