HDCL Premier Division 2020 (40 Overs) Championship

12-20-2020POSTED BY Ranjit Chaudhri

HDCL Premier Division 2020 (40 Overs) Championship

Brantford Cricket Club (BCC) ended their drought of championship trophy in HDCL history by clinching HDCL Premier Division (40 overs) 2020 championship. BCC reached finals in an upbeat manner by virtue of an outstanding regular season dominance. BCC faced #2 ranked Niagara Cricket Club in the final. Electing to bat first, Brantford CC never got going to pose a threat of mammoth total due to very spirited and disciplined bowling from NCC bowlers. BCC crawled to a modest total of 147 runs all out. Jagmeet Chahal with 17 runs, Mansimran Singh with 19 runs, Rajdeep Singh with 15 runs and a late inning cameo by Khush Brar with very useful contribution of 32 runs, were the main contributors with bat for BCC. For NCC, Ishan Patel returned an amazing spell of bowling with figures of 8-2-13-2 and was well supported by all other NCC bowlers.

NCC started their chase of modest 148 runs for the win, in most disastrous style by losing both openers with score of 8 runs on the board. Brantford bowlers and fielders never let the foot off the peddle after initial success and bowled with aggression and fielded with passion to keep the pressure on NCC batters. The pressure of tight bowling and fielding resulted in 3 NCC batters getting run outs. Skipper Cubby Sadoon was the lone batter who fought hard to score top score of 24 runs but none of the other batters were able build a meaningful partnership. NCC lost all its batter at the score of 83 in 22.2 overs. For Brantford CC, Jagdeep Toor with 3 for 29 and Inderjeet Brar with 3 for 20 were the most successful bowlers.

Congratulations to Brantford Cricket Club on winning HDCL 2020 Premier Division (40 Overs) championship and good luck for 2021 season !!
